Its not like they snatched him out of Danish dinner theater. He was already working in Hollywood. He was the star of his own American network TV show (New Amsterdam). I liked his show and was sorry to see it cancelled.
Oh yeah! I thought I recognized Jaime from ER but that’s a totally different guy (I was thinking of the Serbian-- or Bosnian-- actor who was the other hot guy that wasn’t Noah Wiley). I liked New Amsterdam too.
I’d see Tchéky Karyo as Stannis, myself.
He’s only got one persona : antisocial, bitter, bored-out-of-his-skull guy who can’t believe whoever’s speaking to him was *dumb *enough to say what they just said. Then goes on an exasperated rant.
That’s pure Stannis.
Or even just Chris and Liam Hemsworth, for the real-life-brothers congruity.

Julian Sands or Ralph Fiennes are the only other actors I could see playing Tywin (Sands would have made a lovely Jaime, in his youth).
I’d make him Roose Bolton.

Gary Oldman as…well anyone. He could be in the show already and I wouldn’t recognize him. He’s that damn good.
Stannis is and always will be Jeremy Irons. It is known. Not sure if he’s A list or whatever, but he’s Stannis. Period.
Worst part of that idea is that we all know he would accept the role.
