I finally broke down and ordered a new computer. I can’t keep this old eMachine afloat much longer.
Anywho… my new box ia a P4 2.8 ghz with 800fsb and 512 megs of ram. Nothing steller, but sure as heck beats out my current box.
I really liked Age of Empires. But I’m not even sure what type of category that game fits in. Strategy? Is there a new version of this?
I also liked The first Doom. And am thinking about buying Call of Duty. But really don’t know anything about it. I’ve heard it was good. Could someone fill me in?
Recomendations for a good game review site would be appreciated.
If at all possible look into getting a decent video card. Age of Empires falls in the Real Time Strategy category, or RTS. A good game similar to AoE that I enjoy is Rise of Nations. You rise up through different periods in time until you reach the space age, which is pretty much our age. Like AoE you must do unit upgrades, technology advancements, collecting upgrades, that kind of thing. I kinda favor this game over the AoE series right now.
Call of Duty is pretty good. You play through it as American, British and Russian. That makes it pretty fun. I really don’t know what else to say about it. It’s an enjoyable game and I would recommend it. Another WWII game I’d recommend would be Medal of Honor: Allied Assault. More fun than Call of Duty, in my opinion.
http://www.gamerankings.com/ is OK as a review site, though you may as well just ask on here as there are lots of gamers.
If you liked Age of Empires I would reccommend Rome:Total War. It’s a bit more involved tha AoE, so this may not be entirely to your taste, so you could try and find a copy of Medievil Total War cheap to try first.
Age of Mythology is the newest in the Age of Empires line, but it isn’t much different to Age of Empires 2 (Age of Kings) and is about 2 years old (I think).
