Yes, better. Phrases like “pretty much anyone” actually have a meaning.
Just in case any rational people (i.e., anyone other than Bouncer) still have doubts about what GamerGate was really all about someone started reading through the thousands of pages of IRC logs. It’s not pretty.
Complete, no, of course not, but you must admit the shantytowns are pretty grim. Longstreet was pretty nice, but it’s telling when you have armed guards outside any major hotel as crime prevention and street begging is pretty rampant. Mind you, that was obviously Cape Town, but Jo’Burg also had it’s issues.
Gansbai was nice though.

Hey. HEY. That is not cool. Don’t do that.
Well then maybe you can tell me what the fuck “PC Load Letter” means.
So were hoovervilles. So is Detroit. So what?
None of the hotels I know of have armed guards standing outside all the time. Which hotels were these?
And IME, there’s not much more begging in Cape Town than in European cities.
Cape Town is a Mediterranean paradise compared to Jozi.
…I thought you didn’t care?
You sure write lots for someone who doesn’t care about this topic.
You flat out admitted you were a bully. Take ownership of that. I never made any claim you were posting somewhere else. And I’m not shouting you down.
There is no evidence there were any favours traded. There was no review. There is no evidence of intent. Stop making stuff up.
I what ?
I’m serious, I don’t know what you’re talking about.
Here, this thread needs another semi-informed opinion, so here goes
-
The worst thing about this is the harassment Zoe Quinn recieved. Even if all the allegations were true, which they clearly aren’t, none of that is justified. Someone else will have to tell me if the death threats or leaked nudes are worse, but both are terrible.
-
It is laughable to think that this is the scandal that shows game journalism is corrupt. The link between any of the people she supposedly slept with and anyone talking up depression quest is pretty tenuous, and publishers have been known to deny preview copies of games to magazines that give them bad reviews.
-
TFYC scandal is a tempest in a teapot. Anyone can go on twitter and say “thing person is doing is bad” and that’s fine. One has to believe Zoe has an absurd amount of power to thing she can shut things down by saying they are bad on twitter.
-
The logs showing that the ex was in the 4chan “let’s get Zoe” irc channel is pretty damning, so my next two points are theoretical
-
Criticizing someone for cheating is a lot different than criticizing someone for having a lot of sex. One involves dishonesty, and in this case (if this case actually happened), borderline abusive behavior. Both cases are probably still none of my business, if it weren’t for
-
The abuse. Unfortunately emotional abuse is rather poorly defined, so I can’t be sure it applies, but the initial allegations included gaslighting, which is a tactic employed by a lot of abusers.
-
but again, it initial allegations probably didn’t happen.
- The people who are posting ‘proof’ graphics about Zoe Quinn’s alleged guilt need to learn that Red-on-Black text does not make your graphic-laden post ‘intense’ it make sit unreadable.
What?
Both “pound me in the ass prison” and “PC Load Letter” are quotes from Office Space, a movie where tech nerds do bad things and are worried about the consequences. I thought the reference was rather apt.
Ah. Didn’t catch the reference, then - to me, the expression “pound me in the ass prison” and similar idioms are an ubiquitous reference to the American psyche’s both openly acknowledging that prison rape in US prisons is endemic, traumatic and wholly unaddressed; but also **desirable **and part and parcel of the punishment. Especially since the stereotype features a burly black gangsta doing the raping, and getting raped by a big black cock is seen (consciously or not) as somehow inherently more traumatizing and humiliating to the terrified middle class white bread.
Which is kind of a shitty (not to mention fucking tacky) sentiment to glibly hold and express, y’know ?
I think if someone were presenting rape as a desirable consequence of putting someone in prison, they’d phrase it as “pound-you-in-the-ass prison”, not “pound-me-in-the-ass prison.”
I dunno. “You’re going to pound-me-in-the-ass prison, mister !” : the me is still you in this sentence. If you follow me :o. It just goes one step further into the degradation, by implying that the Big Guy you’re going to be cellies with is going to make you beg for it first.
Look, do you want to get pounded in the ass or not?
If you’re going to pound-me-in-the-ass prison, no way am I following you.
Whenever someone says “pound-me-in-the-ass prison” I just can’t imagine prison rape, I just imagine all the guards have spanking paddles and meat tenderizing hammers. It’s just the way it’s phrased.
Well fuck, I don’t, except you keep writing posts addressing me specifically.
What. The Fuck. Are you talking about? I never admitted any such thing, and I have stated repeatedly, that bullying is bad and harassment is bad. Since your reading comprehension is apparently not quite what you think it is, let me help you:
-Me (Bolded and underscored to help you see the words).
-Me (Bolded and underscored to help you see the words).
-Me (Bolded and underscored to help you see the words)
Now I guess it is possible you misread what I said about iBullying, but note that the next words are specifically “tm Me, right now” and what I am saying is that I am trademarking the term “iBullying”. It’s an attempt at levity. Note that I do then go on to say that iBullying(™) is also bad.

I’m not making stuff up, though perhaps others are. However the reactions of you and others are so histrionic it feels very much like an effort to distract. Seriously, I’m the person who walked into this discussion without an opinion either way and now I’m convinced some-damn-thing was going on because of all the smoke you and others are making.
So try again, and use your inside voice, and explain to me why this is all made up, which is apparently the claim you are making. If you can keep from attacking me personally, or making up quotes and attributing them to me, and if your logic makes sense, then I am very open to changing my view.

Bullshit. You want to mock people, and now that you’re getting a taste of mockery yourself, you’re concern-trolling. “Calm down, people–you’re gonna give everyone the wrong idea!”
Thanks for the input, but no thanks.

Okiedoke then. This is me having not one goddamn clue what you’re on about. But froth on, man, froth on.

PS: For the record I looked up concern trolling. Where have I said anyone would get in trouble with the moderators or powers that be around here? I haven’t, I don’t believe that to be the case and I don’t even know how you’re extrapolating that from anything I’ve written. /shrug
