Longstreet was pretty nice, but it’s telling when you have armed guards outside any major hotel as crime prevention and street begging is pretty rampant. Mind you, that was obviously Cape Town, but Jo’Burg also had it’s issues.

It’s breathless the way you scream at anyone who dare think that perhaps content creators and the content QA providers (reviewers) should perhaps not be literally in bed together, lest some objectiveness go away. Or that, at the very least, if they are making the funtimes, they should go ahead an put a disclaimer in their articles acknowledging that.

But Aieeeee!!! Anyone not supporting her because she was bullied is themselves a bully!!! Blah blah blahbitty blah. Wave arms, call names rinse, lather repeat but never ever acknowledge that there is a FUNDAMENTAL problem with honesty when you are trading favors with people who are supposed to QA your work and that MAYBE there might be a lesson there.

Here, this thread needs another semi-informed opinion, so here goes

1. The worst thing about this is the harassment Zoe Quinn recieved. Even if all the allegations were true, which they clearly aren’t, none of that is justified. Someone else will have to tell me if the death threats or leaked nudes are worse, but both are terrible.

2. It is laughable to think that this is the scandal that shows game journalism is corrupt. The link between any of the people she supposedly slept with and anyone talking up depression quest is pretty tenuous, and publishers have been known to deny preview copies of games to magazines that give them bad reviews.

3. TFYC scandal is a tempest in a teapot. Anyone can go on twitter and say “thing person is doing is bad” and that’s fine. One has to believe Zoe has an absurd amount of power to thing she can shut things down by saying they are bad on twitter.

4. The logs showing that the ex was in the 4chan “let’s get Zoe” irc channel is pretty damning, so my next two points are theoretical

5. Criticizing someone for cheating is a lot different than criticizing someone for having a lot of sex. One involves dishonesty, and in this case (if this case actually happened), borderline abusive behavior. Both cases are probably still none of my business, if it weren’t for

6. The abuse. Unfortunately emotional abuse is rather poorly defined, so I can’t be sure it applies, but the initial allegations included gaslighting, which is a tactic employed by a lot of abusers.

Didn’t catch the reference, then - to me, the expression “pound me in the ass prison” and similar idioms are an ubiquitous reference to the American psyche’s both openly acknowledging that prison rape in US prisons is endemic, traumatic and wholly unaddressed; but also **desirable **and part and parcel of the punishment. Especially since the stereotype features a burly black gangsta doing the raping, and getting raped by a big black cock is seen (consciously or not) as somehow inherently more traumatizing and humiliating to the terrified middle class white bread.
