But this is how they make their living. Quinn got her “game” on Steam by faking the Wizard Chan thing. She’s claimed to be mugged to elicit donations. It’s what she did with TFYC, which she accused of being oppressive, and the Pepsi Game Jame, she played the victim and got herself more support. More Patreon donors, more twitter followers to read her begging missives, more sympathy from the gaming press. And now someone who has done nothing beyond code a single “game” has hot herself a million hits on Cracked, because pretending to be a victim, for a woman, is a money-spinner.
Sarkeesian, too. When she started her kickstarter she, once and only once, allowed comments on her Youtube video, and then closed comments when the kickstarter was over, because she knew she’d done enough to provoke a reaction. A couple of idiots she’s riled up call her a cunt and she can play the victim again. And she’s also faked harassment in the past, when she can’t just provoke it. And she’s got 150 grand out of it, so at least she’s good at fraud.
Tim Schaeffer has also recently confessed to being a professional victim who leverages any reaction he provokes into cash and sympathy, but it doesn’t work for men quite as well.

Aped means imitated, she didn’t replicate their footage, she took footage from other peoples’ videos. Repeatedly. She also lied about games, for example the infamous Assassin game, which she claims encourages the player to beat women unconscious and drag their corpses around for sexual gratification, when in fact hurting female characters is explicitly penalised. No other footage could be found of any other player assaulting those NPCs.
Of course there is, on Youtube if you want to open your eyes to it, a video fo her saying she doesn’t play video games, isn’t a fan of video games and things that violent video games are “gross”.
