Games that could make a good movie

Mortal Kombat would make a totally awesome movie.

And it did.

Seriously. For what the movie set out to do, it did it well.

It was a B-movie production with an A-movie budget. It was cheesy, but in a fun way.

Too bad they never made a sequel…

Pac-man

Minesweeper: the movie.

First point. AGREED. Well done. [Even if the same tempo and pacing nearly appeared in The Matrix. – Watch both back to back…]

Also the comedy in it, is amazing.

But, yes, I agree with you even more, It is a shame that Mortal Kombat never had a sequel.

But, from what I have seen of both, Annihilation was still light years ahead of Street Fighter.

That Juno Reactor techno song* from the soundtrack might be one of the most recognisable pieces of music from any film. It’s certainly among the most recognisable techno songs.

*I think it’s just called Mortal Kombat Theme - it’s the one that goes like this.

I agree with the Bioshock suggestion. Heck, I almost feel that that game IS a movie. (one of the coolest games I’ve ever played). Half Life 2 was pretty sweet, but I don’t know how good a film it would make. As a movie, I think it might be just a bit too predictable.

Yes. I had seen this before. There is no way this could have been made any better. The number of dead on lines in that two minute clip is perfect. It has everything you would need.

“That clock is gonna keep ticking until it reaches 9-9-9!”
“What happens then?”
“Nothing. You just suck.”

It’s never the first one!

What happens if we get an 8?
God Help us all!

Why are you here?
I am here to find mines!
Why are you here?
I am here because I am bored.
Don’t you ever forget that!

Gaberial Knight would be Friggen awesome. The movie AngelHeart actually has much the same feel of a Gabriel Knight game, I thought, despite the plot feeling very different.

You do realize that the Secret of Monkey Island was based off Pirates of the Carribean(The ride?). I think Pirates is probably the closest we’re going to get.

I do agree on Indy, Day and Grim.

The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind.
I think that would make a great movie.

Number one sign your sequel is going to suck:

After reading the script, Christopher Lambert decides not to return to the role.

Number two sign your movie is going to suck:

You kill the comic relief character from the first movie in the first 5 minutes.

Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa was lucky he played a character that died in the first movie. Robin Shou probably wished he did as well.

Halo (this will be a huge blockbuster if/when it happens. Watch.)
Kotor (agree, better than the prequels)
Mario Galaxy (cgi)
Everquest

I can’t decide if Star Control 2 would work or not. You’d have to add some more bridge crew, but I don’t know if having all the conversations being conducted over a viewscreen would work in a movie.

Also, the slow development & unfolding eevul plot part of the game would maybe be better suited to a TV miniseries.

Wolfenstein.

(Exhibit 2)

Look, if that’s not 'nuff said, then I don’t know what is.

I was thinking that you meant this song.

Juno Reactor did a different song for Mortal Kombat.

The Theme to Mortal Kombat was done by Utah Saints.

**
The song you link to is called “Techno Symdrome” by The Immortals.**

Agreed it is a good song.

The remake with even more characters in it was a non-starter. It is too complicated to listen to, and too obvious that they milked the entire idea bone dry.

But, if I could only have one song from the entire Movie, it would have to be “Halcyon +On +On” by Orbital.

You know this one, it’s the 9 and a Half minute long "What is this meditational piece doing in my Mortal Kombat?! " instrumental piece in the film.

That takes place when:

I believe near the end of the film, when Liu Kang either is just about to, or just defeat the main antagonist. The music starts when Liu is reunited with his brother.

That piece of music is at once so incredible, at once so not belonging to the film, at once, what makes the entire film mature near instantly.
