Deep-fried anything for dropping your weapon all the time…
The joys of opening a mystery can of mystery meat. Still, it was worth it if it was, say, a can of deep-fried ghoul (I’ll take a free experience level).

[TMI]Sadly, I learned about dysentery the old-fashioned way.[/TMI]
In S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Shadows of Chernobyl – aka Stalker for anyone doing a search – you don’t have to drink, but you do need to eat every few hours. You can also find bottles of alcohol (I think it’s vodka) that, amusingly, help you if you’ve got radiation poisoning. You get a little drunk/dizzy but your health improves.
Your Sims characters need to eat or they’ll die of starvation.
I think the Might and Magic series had this. I remember picking apples from trees in Might and Magic IV before going anywhere.
Also you’d go insane/die if you didn’t sleep enough. I killed half my characters by travelling somewhere on accident and travelling right back. I guess nobody sleeps on the road in that game.
While you do need rest in M&M, this sounds like you didn’t have enough food for the journey. Say it takes three days to get to Erathia from Harmondale: you’ll use three food on the way there, and on the return. If you don’t have enough food, you’ll arrive weak, or with a condition, or dead, depending on how short you are.
I remember it as sleep that drove my characters mad…but it was years ago so it’s possible I’m remembering wrong.
RL.
Shitty game.
Good graphics though.
The NES version of Ultima (which is the one I’m familiar with, too) has a good number of differences from the PC versions. Food is one of them.
Moby Games is fine. No game downloads there.
Yeah, but it’s really buggy.
Yep, popped in to post that one.
Man, QFGIV would have been my favorite Sierra adventure of all time if it wasn’t so damn game-breakingly buggy.
