Aaand nevermind, I just ended up getting a similar Acer one on sale because it has an IPS panel, and the monitor people had almost nothing bad to say about it, other than it has a on-arrival chance of bad pixels, but I’m willing to RMA a couple of times.

The one you ended up buying may be better because it’s some sort of IPS technology (AHVA?). Amazon has a warning that mentions
It sounds like there are definitely manufacturing issues, but if you keep on it you can get a good sample.
Here’s a review from my go-to monitor review site. The conclusion is very positive.
I’m going to assume you have a high end video card with displayport/g-sync output.
That’s the one that I looked at when I was looking for a new monitor. I ended up not getting it because nearly every review I read talked about poor quality control.
When I finally decided on one I just went to Microcenter and had them plug it in for me to confirm no dead pixels. I’m happy.
