Is there any way to stock up on cheap gas, other than having a huge tank? Can I buy gallons today to be pumped at a later date?

Gasoline is commodity, if you want to hedge against higher gas prices, see a commodity broker.
The problem I’d worry about isn’t getting it, but storing it.
Many farmers do; my mother has an aboveground gas tank on her farm, and refilled it recently. But I don’t think those are allowed inside most city limits.
There are areas around Minnesota where there are gas co-ops you can join. They basically purchase gas in bulk (hopefully when it’s cheap), and then the members use it to fill their vehicles over the next few months. Some operate their own gas station; some contract with a local gas station or chain of stations who store & sell the gas to the co-op members. These co-ops save a few cents per gallon just by buying gas at the wholesale price; if they are able to buy extra when prices are low that’s just extra savings to the members.
keep in mind gas isnt stable, the general thought is its good for around a year give or take.
