shoe - I’m not a taco fan. But I went to Wendy’s and got FCD a taco salad and chili, and I had the apple chicken pecan salad, but I think they forgot the pecans. Still, it was good.
JtC - oddly enough, I think Otis is leery of Ziva. She hisses at him and he whines. Wuss.
It’s a rainy evening and it’s supposed to continue all night. But it’s warm and dry inside as we do some intense chillage. Olympic-level chillage!
I’ve seen so many videos of 60+ lb dogs, and also of grown black bears, hunkering back or even taking off whining, because a 9-lb. cat decided, “Nuh-uh, buddy.”
My husband tells a story of a rather small cat his family had when he was growing up who utterly terrorized a German Shepherd who had offended her by venturing into HER turf.
He has met the murder mittens in the past it seems!
I’m here to brag a BIG brag. @rocking_chair reminded me to order our mom and daughter advent calendars. Today, Mom went to the dermatologist and had six more pieces of skin cut off (protect your skin kids, its the only one you have). Then she came home and found chocolate on her doorstep. She said she’s probably going to open more than one door tonight and I’m just fine with that.
So hurray for my perfect timing, even if it wasn’t planned.
Howdy Y’all! Laundry got laundered and put away where it stays until it gets dirty again. Then we accomplished nappage and day drinkin’. The teevee dinners were not too shabby. We do muchly prefer cornbread dressin’ over the bread stuffin’. This could be a thing to do again in several months.
{{{Nettie}}} so sorry for your loss. Allie had a wonderful and much loved life.
JtC hooray for just in time chawklit for your mom!
Coppertone hooray for the food stamps! Must be such a relief.
It is! I am a poverty person so exist on 298 a month. Been getting stamps for 30 years.
Since my pastor came through with food and an online friend sent me 290$ I have survived.
Now I have 240 for the next 2 weeks. I will be skimping and making sure I will have some left over to add to next months.
Interestingly, my brother very recently recounted that story…
His memories of it differ somewhat from mine, but not in any ways that are very important.
My memory of the dog involved was that he was a husky, not a German Shepherd. It’s a bit odd that you remember hearing the story as describing the dog as a German Shepherd, since I am sure I have always remembered that dog as a Husky, but Glenn remembers him, also, as a German Shepherd.
She was lovely. Obviously loved so much. My condolences – going through a loss like this is always miserable. I hope your pain over her loss is eased sooner rather than later.
Me, too! Also, if you’re thinking of a name that’s fire-related (apropos of this thread, even!), how about Ember?
shoe, Monkey is ever adorable.
You are a good-deeds machine. Don’t sell yourself short! I’m in awe.
You are right. My judge always found ways to excuse someone who displayed resentment over serving. Such people will screw up a trial without a second thought. Not worth it to waste everyone’s time over one asshole.
You’ll have to just keep trying to recreate that chocolate crinkle cookie recipe. I’m sure hubs will be more than happy to help let you know when you get it right!
nellie, pet abusers disgust me, too. But shiny dog Z has landed well with your son. She’ll be just fine going forward.
All I did was work this afternoon. Nothing fun to share, so I won’t.
Evening all. Got back from the gym and have done a fair amount of feeding, my weight was down to 195lbs, which is a little less than I am comfortable with (that is still overweight by the various health calculators, but what I want to weigh is what counts). Still about a 60% chance of rain tonight, but not until I’m well abed so no worries there.
FCM, got a similar message about recovering photos and ignored it, pretty much agree it was some sort of scam. And nice that you found a reference point from times past; I’ve done that on rare occasions and while it has not led to any reunion-level contacts, it was nice to hear from folks from many decades ago.
Coppertone, clean teeth and SNAP funds. Life is good. (Weather is bad…)
Cookie, in regards to the meeting, sounds like they needed someone to take the lead or at least chair the meeting, but without that you get chaos.
Bright Tree, no, I have gotten much better with spiders, as long as they stay in their territory I don’t even mind them in the house, but crawling up next to me…yeah, that would not sit well.
Knots, I have mostly baseball caps, but do have 1-2 hats around that I almost never wear.
Nettie, so sorry to hear the Princess has passed. My condolences to you. And if nothing else, Spicy is a perfectly reasonable name…albeit I like rocky’s choices a lot. Ember is another good one (thanks Bright Tree)
Nellie, like you say, a bad week for cats. Best wishes to daughter. And my feeling towards people that abuse animals cannot be typed in these threads…
You probably know better than I, just the whiskey and honey and apple all together just made me wonder how they worked together.
JtC, librarians help those that help others, at least that has been my experience. And yay! for Mom and the chocolates.
That happens with brothers, I know for a fact that I called mine while in college to inform him I was drunk for the first time in my life (only been that way twice that I remember). He agrees that I did, but says in was in my Senior (his Junior) year, while I am positive it was in my Junior year (his Sophomore). Memories are funny things.
And that has taken me to 9:30pm, so a few more minutes of internettin’ and then head off to bed for some readin’ and puzzle solvin’. Catch y’all tomorrow.
He is, however, somewhat grumpy about the furry child in the house. Doesn’t help that she has a tendency to hiss at him, completely ignoring that he’s 3x her size and could use her as a hockey puck if he felt like it. He’s not expressing displeasure physically, though. I have seen him mildly bop her a couple of times, either in a playful way or in response to insolence from her.
Cats feel vulnerable when they are pooping. Cats might think that we poop in a weird box, but we are still vulnerable. They aren’t judging when they are watching us, they are protecting us.
Or so the interwebs claim. I think that zombies could break through the window and their attention would remain focused on the toilet paper in my hand, but what do I know?
I was SO happy about that, but all of the credit goes to Rocky.
I’m still up and posting because there has been big rain and thunder happening. George is a peaceful cat. He is a cat of peace who doesn’t like it when the outside is exploding. We have spent the last half hour huddled up in my recliner (well, he was huddled, I was watching the light show) and now we are waiting until the last boomers happen. Its still raining, but I think the noise is probably over, I can hear the storm moving away.
