(Old) It's the heat AND the humidity in the MMP!

Does it really matter whether it’s hot, or hot and dry, or hot and humid? Isn’t that why air conditioners were invented??

Happy Moanday!!

First! It’s good to be juvenile!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 74 Amurrkin out and partly N.O.S. with a predicted high of 94 and N.O.S. for the day. Nuttin’ big on the agenda for today. Mowage needs to happen, however, we had some big tstorms with lots of rain overnight so ‘tis very wet out as I post. Maybe if’n it dries out and is not too hawt later this mornin’ mowage shall come to pass. Or not. Remember the sloth is strong in me. Sup shall be sketties 'n meatballs, sallit and cheesey garlic bread.

MOOOOOOM I am a big fan of a/c so it can beany kind of hot it wants to be outside as long as I can be inside and in the a/c. This reminds me of the old adage that divinity could only be made on days that were clear and cold. With the advent of HVAC systems this is no longer true as we have inside climate control. Ponder that.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah,

Happy Moanday Y’all!

I love my AC but I found out something last night when my bedroom was warm and humid - apparently the power outage the other night reset my AC to 88 and we didn’t notice. Needless to say, that got reset lower and sleeping was much more comfortable.

This past weekend was full of busy fun. Saturday night, Hubby and I went to the soccer game thanks to Vanderbilt. It’s was his department’s turn at the suite that Vandy has and we were able to get tickets for the two of us. The game was great, the food was OK and the traffic getting out was a nightmare. I spent time before the game chatting with a friend that was across the stadium from me. It was actually kind of surreal but definitely fun.

Yesterday, all for of us finally went to see Across the Spider-Verse at an early showing. It was fantastic and I’m going to have to own it but I’m still processing some of the pieces of it. We followed the movie with an early dinner and then headed home. Hubby, Partner and I played some online Wingspan, which ended up being much quieter than usual. But at least we all had fun. I also found out that my headphones went bad. So I’ve got a new one heading my way. Hoping this one works better.

I’m not sure what my plans are for today beyond storytime and getting some porch reading time in. Oh, and calling my mom for her 70th birthday. I should also make some plans for priorities while Hubby’s or of town.

BtY has been more helpful than usual and I’m loving it. No yelling when I ask him to do something. Remembering to do things without being reminded. I don’t expect it to last, but I’m enjoying it while I can!

I guess I should get up, get shelved and break my fast. A day of scattered slothiness awaits. Have a great Moanday, all!

Morning all. Shopping-n-Sammich-n-Swimming-n-Sauna day today. Supposed to get near 90F and a 60% chance of rain, so should have the heat and humidity working today. As I’ve mentioned before, I lived in Abu Dhabi for 4 years (99-03), we were right on the Arabian Gulf and coming outside in the morning my glasses would immediately fog over due to the humidity and the 90F temperatures in the morning (afternoons would be to over 110F). Not really fond of the ‘dry heat’ out where JtC is, but it beats humid air like that all the time.

Real Fish, may have to go to see the Spiderverse movie, enjoyed the first one when I saw it at home.

OK, onward with the Moanday internettin’. All y’all take care.

I highly recommend it! The only bit of spoiler I’m going to give is that it’s a 2 parter with the second half not due until sometime next year. But even with the cliffhanger ending, I loved almost every part of it. You’ll have to let me know what you think after you see it.

Yes, heat and humidity does matter to me. I like my a/c set at “meat locker.” My passion, as most of you have figured out, is my horse Ariel. Unfortunately, the barn is not air conditioned nor is the arena. Or the outside. I spend a lot of time at the barn sweating and crabby. I rode Saturday. It wasn’t hot but the humidity was 90%. This sent my heart into overdrive. Took care of Ariel including a bath. Took Toporol and went home after 4 hours.

Today is PT. Wimbledon started so I will be watching as much as I can.

Good morning, campers! It’s clear and sunny, and we’re supposed to get up to 84º. I have no real plans other than calling the clinic to try to find out the MRI results. Trying to get info from this place is like pushing water uphill, plus I’m sure a lot of staff took the day off, so I’m trying to keep my hope and frustration l eve ls down.

I hate the heat. Steam or roast, it’s all no fun.

Concur. Nearly all of Michigan is going apeshit with joy, “OMG you guys! YAY it’s summer!” and I’m whimpering next to Coolio (my window unit AC) clutching a popsicle, whispering to myself, “It’ll snow again … right?”

Speaking of popsicles, those Skittles and Sunkist smoothie ones that I mentioned? They are yum, but they’re … a lot smaller than I was expecting. So after the absolute hell that was last night’s shift, I found myself standing in my kitchen stark nekkid after my shower, laughing like a hyena with nobody else around to get the joke with me.

A/C? I work in a concrete box with nothing cooling me but a fan with the airflow of an asthmatic fetal mouse. The drivers have it worse. I like cold showers now.

Home. Naptime, then back for Twilight, before a day off.

I’ve lived in a dry-as-a-popcorn-fart climate (Mali), and also in a breathing-underwater-sweating-my-ass-off climate (Vietnam). If I have to choose, I’ll take the former, although it’s really easy to get into a heat-related problem in a hot, dry climate.

Got a call from the anesthesiologist this morning with last minute instructions for my Wednesday slice and dice. Sounds pretty straightforward to me. The Ms is fretting over this more than I am. For me, it’s a matter of either I wake up or I don’t. If it’s the latter, I won’t know about it. For her, I think it’s fear of being alone. I’ll try not to disappoint her.

Mornin’ all. Decided to make it a long weekend, so no workie today.

cookie Good luck on the procedure.

Have a safe 4th, errybody.

Afternoon, mumpers! It’s 17c/62f with no predicted change, and mostly cloudy. Weather app is feeling Monday-ish and says “Cloudy with a chance of not fucking giving a shit.” Sounds reasonable to me!

We checked out of our airbnb house at 11am, then went to a local café for late breakfast before going our separate ways. My drive back home was uneventful in many ways, but it absolutely heaved down all the way back until we got off the motorway to bright sunshine.

Back home, cats are fed and fussed, litter trays cleaned, car’s unloaded, I’ve unpacked and there’s a load of laundry doing its thing in the machine. 'im indoors is cooking tonight, and I am planning a small amount of slothage on the sofa while I work out how best to sneak up on the foster mogs in order to administer flea treatments.

As for the whole heat/humitidy thing? I hate them both! Well, not strictly true, I like summer’s lighter mornings and longer evenings but I am not a fan of heat or humidity. Autumn suits me best, still a bit lighter during the day but cooler and generally more pleasant to be out and about.

Cookie good luck on the procedure!

Hot is good; it means the AC is off when I’m in charge. Which I usually am not.

Hot and dry means people will set their AC to 78 and I’ll be cold. Hot & humid means people will set their AC to 70 (or 65!) in an attempt to wring out the humidity and I’ll be wearing long underwear indoors and to sleep in.

By far the worst part of summer is other peoples’ desires about AC.

I like a hot, dry climate. That’s not where I live, though.

Today’s plan: To the dump, to the dump, to the dump, dump, dump…

Summer just arrived here in the desert, a few weeks later than usual. I define summer as starting on the second consecutive day above 110F. Dew point is starting to creep up (was 35F yesterday), but still giving single digit RH. Still start shivering when I get out of the pool.

And try not to disappoint us. We need and want you around here.

I love autumn, too! October is my favorite month: cool, crisp air; colorful leaves that crunch underfoot; a new apple season.

pilot, where did you grow up? Not that that necessarily means much. My Dominican friend hates the heat with a passion.

lily, happy…dumping?

Hot and dry seems cooler than hot and humid. In the Mojave Desert we didn’t have an air conditioner. We had a swamp cooler, which wouldn’t have worked in humidity. (Unfortunately, there were always a couple of humid weeks in August.)

For the good of the order: If anyone is ever planning to take a trip to Alaska, there is a very good group on FB called The Alaska Frontier Group. It’s mostly people posting photos, but everyone is very helpful with advice on what to see and do.

i watched this morning while eating breakfast and sheveling. Work went pretty darn quickly so back by 11:40 and unfortunately they were showing a player that I don’t care for.
12:20 oh heck, now he’s talking - quickly changes station

Or us, please don’t disappoint us.

[ninja’ed by the lovely nellie~I’m in exalted company]. That’s what I get for replying before reading allllll the way to the end.
