If you read that thread you’ll notice a subtopic crops up about why there seems to be a preference for genetic explanations… to the extent of dismissing any non-genetic cause almost out of hand.
Is it because people over-identify with genotype? A kind “Genotype makes me who I am.” thought process… rather than “Phenotype is who I am.’”, with the observation that phenotype is affected by quirky environmental factors being somehow unsatisfying.
Though the topic stems from a “gay genes” discussion, it need not be limited to questions of the biological basis of sexual orientation…
