I already mentioned it in this post, but I just had to give this its own thread.
I hate to jump to conclusions about what certain articles do or do not assert, but I’ve read this article, struggling to find an interpretation that doesn’t assert what I say in the topic, but I’m failing. Especially when it starts off with:

How the hell can ANYONE defend such an idea? Is this really what half the country thinks? Maybe this comes from the persistent idea that homosexuality is a complete and conscious choice (highlighting the question, “if gay marriage is taught in schools as a morally neutral choice, why wouldn’t more kids choose it?”).
In my opinion, gay marriage opponents are as dangerous to American and the segregationists were. Fortunately, the segregationists were defeated. These guys will be too. It may take longer than we would like but they will be.
Every day the homophobes find a new way to piss me off. Today I’m pissed off that because of them I had to vote for a fucking Democrat*. All of my Democratic friends are giving me this “welcome home” shit. I ain’t home. I’m just here until the Pubbies let this one go.

thread I announced the news that a county in Oregon will begin to issue marriage licences to gays beginning tommorow.
Really, I don’t see how the bigots who wish to stop this have much of a chance. I think it’ll just keep going farther and farther untill it HAS to be recognized by everyone.
I used to think that homophobe was a lazy insult thrown around without good justification. But fuck all if this controversy hasn’t brought almost every single conservative in out of the rain. I can’t even count the number of times I’ve recently heard things start with the always bad news “Now, I’ve got nothing against homosexuals…” and quickly turn into a rant about how homosexuals are vile, self-corrupting, self-indulgent, the mere existence and acknowledgement of “sending bad messages” to children, on and on.
Fuck all.
I tried, I really tried, to give the modern right wing the benefit of the doubt. But aside from a view outsiders, its fucking bigots crawling out of the woodwork. And it can’t just be dismissed as a powerful but tiny faction. For instance, it’s every single goddamn right wing radio host I can find. These people are incredibly popular. You can’t tell me that their homophobic views don’t represent a substantial portion of those on the right, or else large portions of their audiences would like, maybe, complain or disagree with them. And the thing is, I AGREE with them on many of the issues of rule of law. But unlike them, I’m not so easily revealed as using that issue as a ruse to get a chance to bash homosexuals under cover of a legitimate complain.

And if people really think I’m so dangerous because I support gay marriage, then I’ll take that as a compliment. And since I’d rather go to their hell than their heaven any day, they really have no ammunition to use against me that’s going to scare me.
I just heard on CNN that Tom DeLay’s office received an envelope stuffed with gay marriage in the mail today, and they had to quarantine the entire building. When will the madness end?!

Less Will and Grace and more ‘reading comprehension’ is my prescription for you. Islamic terrorism can hurt us, certainly, but it is hard to envision a scenario where they can destroy our society. Gay marriage, on the other hand, will fundamentally change the fabric of our society, and not for the better, as most people seem to agree. Even if you don’t agree with the principlel, it isn’t hard to see the logic behind the idea.

Brutus would you mind explaining how gay marriage will so fundamentally change the fabric of American society that it will destroy it? I’m just not seeing it. Your link explains nothing and neither do you, not that that’s ever stopped you before. It seems to me that the only thing threatening American society out of all this, is the group of righty-Christo-fundies who are sending death threats to the mayor of San Francisco. Seems like the danger lies entirely on your side.
