I am not interseted in semantic games with parties who are clearly argueing from a biased point of view. If it makes you feel better, I concede that only definitions that are pleasing to you and yours are valid. NO one is homosexual unless all other homosexuals agree on it.

Not only are you insulting, you’re also condescending. My life experience with gay men, plus my experience with pedophiles, should count for something. The pedophiles I met were definitely not gay.

A true pedophile who is attracted to little boys is virtually indistinguishable from one who is attracted to little girls. It’s mostly a matter of opportunity.

You can try and twist this anyway your specific social group tells you to, but to the average person around the world, a man who has sex with other males is homosexual. You cant change the definition of a word to suit your own agenda.

By this definition Hugh Hefner is homosexual, since he has admitted to having had sex with men.

Start a poll, even here on the Dope, I would guess that the majority of posters would agree with the simple dictionary definition of homosexual that I paraphrased above

We have a current poll on sexuality going in IMHO, which takes into account a much greater range of possible sexual behaviors and orientations than you allow for here.

The “simple dictionary definition” from Merriam Webster does not agree with you, since it distinguishes between homosexual orientation (definition 1) and homosexual acts (definition 2). These are not the same thing.

We’re not interested in definitions that are pleasing, but ones that are correct. There is a difference between homosexual behavior, and homosexual orientation, as evidenced by the dictionary. Many men who are basically heterosexual in orientation will have sex with other men if no women are available. This does not make them homosexual in the sense of having a “tendency to direct sexual desire toward others of the same sex.” In fact, their sexual tendency is toward those of the opposite sex.
