Gee, Notre Dame didn't look too good in the BCS, did they?

In the meantime, #6 Virginia Tech delivered its usual pasting to Clemson, and Michael Vick didn’t even need to put on his cape. Now, there are three BCS games, encompassing the best six teams in college ball.

So, um, why is Notre Dame getting slapped down like the pale shell of a legacy they are when Virginia Tech could have been a worthy contender for any opponent? Who runs this dog and pony show?

These games today don’t matter, and the players know it. Just look at Ohio State going through the motions against South Carolina, for instance. Tune in Wednesday night for the national championship game, which everyone knows DOES matter.

This is a shame, really. I used to look forward to New Year’s Day to see all the top teams in action. Only rarely would the top 2 teams play, so at least 2 games would be worth watching, and there was some buzz about it. Now it’s a day full of crappily-played exhibitions. I generally support the BCS, mind you, I just wish they had 4 teams in a real tournament, with New Year’s being an ideal day for the semifinals. I’d also be happier with a real selection committee instead of these inane computer rankings - it works for 64 teams in basketball, so why not?

Oh, to respond to your question: ND and VT are both overrated - ND because of its old reputation, VT because of its weak schedule. IMHO of course.
