Geek Parental Bragging

snif…I just passed on my copy of K&R to my 10 year old…He did his first Hello, World…
They grow up so fast.
(true geeks will understand this).

Excellent job!

But I find Practical C to be the far superior book.

I was about that age when my dad showed me BASIC on the 286. I didn’t get into C for a few years after that.

If he shows up one day with a Java book in his hands, disown him.

Practical C…I’ll have the ole lady check on that at work(she works at borders).

I learned to program on a TI 99/4 (not the later fancy 99/4A), about 1979 or so. There werent no stinking PC’s back then.

It was basic, forth, and assembly. You kids with yer 286’s were spoiled.

Course, cant get a job programming forth anymore…
Do ya know if they make a forth for linux? That would twist his brain good and propper.

How about a bumper sticker, “My Kid can count to 1010 on his fingers.”
or “My kid, hacked your uber-kid’s bank account”
