Geekiest rants ever?

During the course of looking around and remembering favorite threads, I stumbled across a couple classic geeky rants, one on prime numbers, and another on parallel lines*. These are, I think, great examples of why this place stands out.

I know there are others like them (as far as geekiness goes). Which ones are they? What’s your favorite geeky rant?

[sub]*Yeah, I wrote the OP for that one, but it’s the responses that make a thread, and I didn’t write those.[/sub]

oh man, that was funny. I think you did that on purpose.

but, parallel lines never meet because no one’s ever introduced them!

Maybe I can write a rant on why electrons should move faster in silicon, or why c should be higher.

:stuck_out_tongue:

I guess this isn’t a rant as such, but it’s along the same lines: 15 billion years since the Big Bang just doesn’t seem that long ago.

Nah, I was genuinely exasperated when I wrote that.

Good enough for me.

Ultrafilter, I wholeheartedly agree with you.

Parallel lines, in whatever way you want to see them, NEVER intersect. To make them intersect, you either have to break the definition of parallel, or the definition of line.

Argue all you want about it, when they do, you you break either definition. You can’t get rid of that trap. And usually, would be explanations about how can parallel lines intersect break the definition of a line.

Pi should be 3.2

I want my street address number to be pi. Integers are so dull.

btw: The zip code for Savannah, GA, is 31415.

I just called these people geeks, so it must be worthy of nomination. Fonts, Foundries and fucking FAQs
