Gender Inversion as a Sexual Kink

That was the most interesting one he’s written, and a great analysis of issues within the “kink community.”

It’s not so much about himself, but about how difficult it can be when you don’t fit into pre-defined roles. Places like FetLife can seem revelatory at first because it seems to be the antithesis of the mainstream society that wants you to fit into well-defined boxes labeled with gender/orientation/etc. FetLife appears to be tailor-made for people who just don’t fit into those boxes.

Once you spend a little time there, however, you find that it’s the same thing all over again. There are a whole lot more boxes, yes, but they are still boxes, and they can be even more rigid and strictly defined.

AHunter’s friend’s comment rang really to me. I’m not a domme (or a sub or particularly inro BDSM) but I have had had guys request that I dominate them. A couple of times they were hot enough that I was willing to give it a try, and I ran into the exact same thing. It’s been explained to me that the power in a D/s relationship really resides with the sub, so I don’t know why they don’t call it d/S, but whatevs.

The upshot is that the “kink community” can be just as weirdly restrictive as mainstream society. It’s not that AHunter is “too weird for FetLife,” either. I’m about 1% as weird (from a sex/gender standpoint anyway), and I don’t fit either.

A, you’re at your best when talking about society and not rambling about YOUR own particular and very specific gender identity issues. The general public doesn’t need to have its awareness raised about you in particular. They should be more aware that there are an awful lot of people out there who fall into the “other” category.

So go forth, young man/girl, and sin no more!
