Geez crikies.
When my daughter told us, it was a screen shot of her ultrasound labeled “Roxanna Fae” - not even a GIF of fireworks!
Kinda makes you wonder what kind of parents these folks will be…
There seems to be some sort of ever-escalating informal competition to keep making these gender reveal thangs bigger and bigger.
I’m waiting on the headline about someone who lets off a pink or blue tinged nuke.
“That’s right, Carolyn, all available tracking technologies around the globe are zeroed in on the incoming asteroids. Experts at space and defense agencies stress that both objects are on near-intercept trajectories with the potential for Earth impact, but it can’t yet be confirmed which of them will strike the planet. Wait a minute, I’m being told there’s a phone call from someone in rural Texas who wants to tell us what this all means…”
Actually maybe if it’s a boy they let off a surface nuke. Big pillar of smoke. Mushroom head. Wink wink.
If it’s a girl they let off an underground nuke. Crater. Ho ho.
Mostly what these events reveal is spectacularly poor judgment.
Just what was wrong with filled cupcakes? Not “I’m the center of the world” dramatic enough?
Some of these events have KILLED.
Social media reduces the IQ of most folks by at least 10 solid points. This Instagram IQ hits those at the median and below the hardest. We should be sympathetic. Not everyone is born with the spare IQ to burn.
Yeah, I blame social media. No one goes viral by doing what’s already been done. You have to go bigger and better.
I’d have been tempted to text back “Cool name! Is it a boy or a girl?”
Bigger and dumber.
Here’s a few posts on the same event in another thread:
