General Doctor Who questions

Well, there was that hand-holding bit in Tomb of the Cybermen back in the Troughten/Doctor Two years… but if it was a Sign it was a really subtle one.

…for those who hadn’t seen it, the sketch from this year’s Children in Need: funny stuff! Also contains a trailer for the Christmas Special: obvious spoilers…

…just wanted to add that this clip contains everything I love about Matt Smith: so if you need an introduction to this Doctor this is about as good as you will get!

…three boots…?

Time Lords are full of surprises.

I think that’s very much a Russel T. Davies contribution.

I think Adric had a bit of a crush on The Doctor.

“Battlefield” is also quite enjoyable - some of the Doctor’s most compelling speeches.

There is a theory about favorite Doctors.

As everyone says, #6 has generated the most voluable thumbs down. There are rumors that the character was supposed to mellow, but was unpopular enough that it was regenerated away before that happened.

I like Matt Smith, but then I have a high tolerance for goofy.

I also liked most of Torchwood, mostly because of Captain Jack.

Is that the bit where Jamie and the Doctor think they’re helping Victoria? Very funny scene.

…open Season 5 and 6 spoilers below! Don’t click the link or read any further if you aren’t up to date with the Matt Smith episodes…

Here are the four mini episodes “Night and the Doctor” that feature on the latest box set DVD release. (and one what looks like a deleted scene)

Well, the bits that ripped off Quatermass were, anyway.

Isn’t he still married to Peter Davison’s daughter? That changes the feel of ‘Time Crash’ a lot, btw.

Oh, he’s brilliant. A bit glum, but very doctory. I think he and Pertwee are my two personal faves right now.

And the companions (there are two regular and one recurring) are pretty cool. I especially like Rory, but you have to have Amy to get Rory really, so the group then. I like that they seem to be keeping the same bunch of companions for several years, instead of changing the cast every season as R. Davies did.

I think Matt Smith is an amazingly good Doctor, but I don’t really like the direction the writing has taken since he’s come on board. I don’t mind a bit of good ol’ creepy melodrama here and there, but the new crew seems to have forgotten that it’s possible to mix some humorous episodes in as well. It’s all creepy scary nonstop nowadays.

Yep, and they’re expecting a kid.

Forget Time Crash…It really changes The Doctor’s Daughter (where she played the title character).

Yeah, but they’re in character there. In ‘Time Crash,’ Tennant’s fanboy-turned-successor attitude toward Davison was stepping out of character by the end. It was endearing, but the shadow of the future adds a bit of, ‘can I have your daughter’s hand?’

Actually, they already have a daughter. I think she as born last spring, maybe?

I think Rory is amazing … imagine loving someone so much you are willing to sit for 2000 years waiting and keeping them safe swoon He looks fantastic as a Roman soldier.

Peter Davison in “Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy” as the Dish of the Day.

I think that the backstory behind the Dr. changed very early on in his fictional existance.

In the original D.W. which I watched as a kid, I was always under the impression that he was a (human) Victorian eccentric scientist who’d invented a time m/c,who came forward to our present time (latter part of the 20thc.) to take his grandkids through space and time to increase his knowledge, and educate the young’uns.

( both his own and the kids at home watching.)

I was given to understand that he was actually having sex with his assistant in one of his recent incarnations, but I might have got hold of the wrong end of the stick here.

I have heard that Tom Baker IRL is very much a joker, with a wicked sense of humour.

And thats all I’ve got.
