Generation War is currently airing on local tv. It’s a 3 part 90 minute per episode mini-series that has been likened to Band Of Brothers. I’ve only started watching it and am impressed with it so far. Has anyone else seen it? I believe it is airing on BBC2 in the UK as well.
It is great seeing shows from countries other than the US and UK that have decent production values.
It’s not here yet. You’re right though, the BBC has bought it and it will go out on BBC2 - as foreign language drama is now broadcast on BBC4, it’s pretty clear they fancy it very highly.

I doubt very much it’s Band of Brothers, I certainly hope not.
It has more in common, in format, with the British miniseries, Our Friends In The North, although it doesn’t quite have the same scope as that show.
Looks interesting and I’d watch it. But I don’t see a resemblance to Band of Brothers.
The Band Of Brothers resemblance is that part of the show follows a group of Wehrmacht through Operation Barbarossa and events thereafter. These sequences borrow a lot from BOB’s style.
That just means its a war movie (mini series). BoB was a true story about real people. And it was limited to the war and the soldiers. No women. No home front. No relationships. Its shooting style borrowed a lot from Saving Private Ryan. If the cinematography was like that then a more apt comparison would be with fiction like SPR. Just reading the wiki article all comparisons with BoB fall apart once they start talking about who is sleeping with who. Not that it makes it less worthy of watching, just different.
But you obv. associate it with BoB if you’re selling it.
I just finished the last episode last night. Overall it was a decent production. I felt perhaps it could have been longer as they cover 4 years and lots of places. There was a somewhat contrived, albeit necessary I suppose, ending. The show was controversial in Poland for its representation of Polish partisans as virulently anti-Semitic. I don’t know enough about the history to know whether this was historically accurate but it was curious that the Poles are portrayed in words, if not in actions, as hating Jews more than the Germans are.
