I just got the Voyager season one DVD set. On it is some footage of Genevieve Bujold as Capt. Janeway.
While I’m not a huge fan of Kate Mulgrew and you can’t really judge a character by a few scenes, I think it was in everybody’s best interest that Bujold (a fine actress in her own right) back out of the project.
If Bujold were any more wooden, you’d be able to make a table out of her. She seemed to be sleepwalking through the lines.
I don’t think she would have been able to grow the balls Mulgrew walked onto the set with.
Just my opinion, of course.
Hmmm, now you’ve got me curious.
Not curious enough to actually buy anything Voyager-related, though. I’ll just ponder what Lyndsey Wagner would have done with the role.
Man that’s weird. I just got that bonus disc from Netflix today and watched it. I was thinking about starting a thread.
And everyone thought Kate Mulgrew’s voice was annoying. UGH!!!
By the way, Mr. Blue Sky, did you catch the end of her long dialogue with Tuvok? The moment the director yells “cut,” she gives this really annoyed grimace.
Cast a wooden actor from Québec as a Starfleet captain?
That would be crazy!
They could’ve cast a wooden singer from Quebec.
o/ And myyyyyyy ship will go oooooooonnnn o/
o/ I warped all niiiiiiiiiiighhhht to get to you o/
Of course, Mark would have to be about 70 years old and I don’t see them building a giant new theater in Las Vegas for Mulgrew…
Maybe if Genevieve regularly got into knock-down, drag out fistfights after getting her shirt torn off, and seduced every alien woman she ran across…
