Geo Metro

Where is the transmission dipstick on a 1993 Geo Metro and where would I put fluid in if I need to?

Is it a manual or an automatic? Makes a huge difference, and should be included as part of the question.

If it’s an automatic, the dipstick should be fairly obvious when looking under the hood. There are only two dipsticks, one for engine oil and one for the transmission. Transmission fluid is added through the dipstick tube, greatly aided by the use of a long skinny funnel.

If it’s a manual, there is no dipstick. The fluid level is checked and filled at the filler plug on the side of the transmission case (fluid should be just up to the bottom of the filler plug hole).

Each type uses a different kind of fluid.

Some auto-tranny equipped cars (VWs) don’t have a tranny dipstick accessible from above.

Yeah, this is a growing trend in late-model cars. Routine service as commonly known is being phased out.
