Geodesic dome

Has anyone here ever used a dome kit to build a house? How did it work out for you. Did you save much money?

I read up on it once.
One of the biggest problems was finishing the inside. There was wasted space against the wall. Room partitions were difficult to build.
Try ancient issues of the Mother Earth News.

Plumbing was the worst, the guy wrote. He had to have two bend fittings (I forget the angle) for eadh wall panel he passed.

What determines the optimum number of triangles making up a geodesic dome? You could have a zillion tiny triangles, or as few as twenty large ones.

The cost of the fittings and labor. Smaller fittings cost less but require more labor to install. My Differential Equations courses were too long ago.

My husband did a boatload of research on this last year. Tomorrow, I will see if I can get him to post some links.

Check this out. I have been to the prototpe for Ontario and it is fantastic.
I have lots of other websites if you need them.
