George Carlin is going into rehab! http://www.cnn.com/2004/SHOWBIZ/books/12/27/george.carlin/index.html Because “I use too much wine and Vicodin.” Shocking! Outrageous! Not that he has a drug problem, but that he would choose rehab! Say it ain’t so, George! The world is upside down! The bottom is out of the universe!
Hey, at least he’s still breathing. Better to have him in rehab than dead, IMHO.
Wonders how long it’ll be before someone pokes their head in and tries to use this as an excuse as to why they no longer find Carlin funny.
Well, this will give him some new material.
Worked for Richard Pryor!
Hunter S. Thonpson was going to go to rehab to get material. His agent forbid it, thinking that Thompson would die without drugs.
God bless 'im.
From AM/FM:
"I was fired from the Frontier Hotel in Las Vegas for saying ‘shit’…in a town where the big game is called ‘craps.’
“Everybody uses (the word “shit”) figuratively. Nobody ever uses it literally. You never hear someone say, ‘Look at the shit, Martha, wow! Piles of shit in the street, wow!’”
Wine and Vicodin, huh? Sounds like a very dangerous combination. I’m glad he’s getting help. Besides, now he’ll have material about twelve-step groups…
He should go into comedy rehab to regain his sense of humor. He stopped being funny in about 1985.
Sam…this is not IMHO you know.
I think he gets funnier with age. His HBO specials always make me cry with laughter. I 'm glad he’s getting help.
I never heard Carlin suffered from chronic pain; I wonder how he came to get hooked. He’s supposedly been clean of pot and coke for years now.
What? Surely one is allowed to express opinions in CS?
“Rehab is more like baseball, but parole is more like football…”
First of all, the bottom fell out of the universe the day they started selling those pillows shaped like a woman’s lap. Second of all, I don’t get what’s wrong with rehab.
It’s a matter of style.
Like Hunter S. Thompson going to AA, or Jon Stewart deciding he has so much money he should become a Republican.
So you’re telling me Carlin will cease to be Carlin without Vicodin?
How can you be the Class Clown with Adult Supervision?
Wrong. It’s how can you be the Class Clown without Adult Supervision.
Class Clowns with adult supervision are either boring or in D-Hall.
I’m with Diogenes – the last ten years he’s been funnier than ever. In fact, I think the eighties were his low point.
