These round the clock coverage gigs are a tough thing to do.
Especially in a case like this where things are happening sssoooooo sllllllooooooooowwwwwwwwlllllyy , and yet the network is insisting that you stay there and ‘cover’ the story. After you’ve repeated all you know for the 40th time this hour, the well can run dry (so to speak).
Keep in mind, too, that not everyone is glued to this story - some of us check back every now and then while doing something else, and want to hear w/in a few minutes of checking, what the status is.
that being said, with all the resources available, there should have been more than “gee they’re pretty old, eh?” (the comments about how the various conditions might be affected by their age for example), and I particularly hate those ‘how do you feel’. If there is any kind of generous, kind deity, I will never be in the position of being asked that question on camera. I couldn’t afford the criminal charges that would ensue.
And according to the rescue workers themselves it was “luck” that enabled them to drill the shaft that initially made contact with the trapped miners.
As far as God, Jesus, & Mohammad no having anything to do with the rescue, well I didn’t see a guy in bare feet with long hair and a beard, wearing white anywhere near the rescue site, did you?
The headline of the Los Angeles Daily News, current when you posted the above, quoted a miner as saying, “The tenth person was God.”
Immediately, I flashed on Jesus in the furnace with Shadrach, Meschach, and Abednego. Heck, if I were trapped in a mine, I’d want to believe a deity was with me as well!
