I am trying to find the phone number of The Gap clothing store in Germany. There are several of them, probably one in Berlin or Munich would be best. Since I don’t read German I can’t look it up on the internet. Can any European (or multilingual) dopers help me out?

has a bunch of addresses for the Gap in Berlin and other cities. the last row of numbers is the phone number for each store. I don’t know the international call codes from your location to Germany (nor do I know them from here, either) but your operator should be able to tell you.
Just in case you dont know the dialing codes you can find them here
GAP (DEUTSCHLAND) GmbH, Kaufingerstr. 24, 80331 München Telefon: +49 (089) 255446
Fromthe yellow pages
If you’re dialling from the US, then that’d be:
011.49.89.255.446
Hey, thanks for the help and advice. I had gotten to the list of addresses. It never occured to me that the last row of numbers were phone numbers because they have a different number of digits to some of the cities. Clearly I have no idea of how foreign phone numbers are determined. Thank you very much for your help.
Just FYI: there is no set length of phone numbers in Germany. I’ve seen them as short as 6 digits or so (including area code), and as long as 12 or 13. For instance, my home phone number, including area code, is 11 digits. My cell phone number is 12 digits.
One thing to remember when dialling foreign numbers is that the “0” usually gets dropped from the city code. So if you read a number in parenthesis starting with 0, as in the (089) here or (01782) in London, or whatnot, drop the “0” when dialling from a foreign country. (Russia seems to be the exception to this rule. For Russian numbers, include the 0.)
