Get Andrew Jackson off the $20

Amen to that!!! :stuck_out_tongue:

Jackson’s place in history is much more a result of the fact he represented a total re-thinking of American politics. Indeed, our present populist politics traces its roots to Jacksonian democracy, the triumph of the “little” man over the propertied and wealthy men who up to that point ran the nation.

The fact that they still run the nation is irrelevant. :smack:

i also would like a total redo on american currency. thankfully, i’m not in charge of this sort of thing. my rule: only one piece of currency per person. no doubles, washington and jefferson. here is what i would do:

franklin or jefferson on the penny. franklin for a penny saved, penny earned thing. jefferson because he is a red head.

buffalo back on the nickel.

fdr okay on dime

washington on quarter

jfk okay on 50cent piece

keep both women on the dollar coin. the coin must be gold coloured. paper dollar gone.

2 dollar coin: 2 colours (ie canada) theo. roosevelt would be good. if jefferson doesn’t go on the penny, put him on a copper coloured 2 dollar coin.

5 dollar stays with lincoln.

hamilton on 10 is okay.

i say blanche bruce on the 20 dollar. from slave to full term senator from miss. also he served in the treasury for 2 presidents, his name was in nomination for vp, and his name and signature was on us currency.

50 dollars no change.

franklin off the hundred if he goes on penny, with perhaps twain replacing. stays if he doesn’t move to penny.

One dollar coin is iffy, but do you seriously think that the Mint will make two-dollar coins? 'Cause if you do, you’re sadly mistaken.

Sorry, but you can find fault with anything or one if you use the ridiculously oversimplified notion of applying today’s pc-values to people & things that existed two hundred years ago.

It would be like environmentalists wanting to vilify Teddy Roosevelt because he took great pride in shooting animals.

What happens when some President signs the “Remove people who whine about me 200 years after I’m dead and can’t defend myself” law?

Only because Don Martin is dead! :stuck_out_tongue:

a chair can dream. probably good a chair can’t be in charge of money designs.

The best argument for getting Andy Jackson off our money is that the dumbass abolished the Second Bank of the United States (precursor of the Federal Reserve).

I’d say have Burr *replace * that little bastard Hamilton on the ten.
And put FDR on the Twenty.

I don’t care who you use, but would you kindly employ some color?

By which I don’t mean several shades of green, please.

Ah, so you want a Klingon like Worf to be on your currency. “He fought with honour and lost…Uh, what was his name again?”
Nothing wrong with having someone who knows what it takes to win on your currency. Look who us Canadians are stuck with - The ‘Queen’ - What the hell has she ever done? Lost half the bloody empire while shes been in power she has. Biggest loser ever. Oh, and butt ugly children, too. Count yourself lucky.

Leave it on there. I like sitting on the bastard’s face.

I’d be happy if they removed god. That and a promise that Dubya can never *ever * be on currency. Ever.

In his honor. we should make National Gorilla Suit Day a Federal Holiday!

I’m as filled with indifference as a man could be on the subject. As long as the money still spends, they could be Alfred E. Newman on it for all I care.

Haven’t seen the new $10 bills yet, have you?

Him? He ain’t pretty, but he’d make the best POTUS we’ve had since FDR.

My proposal:

$1 – Elvis
$2 – Sinatra
$5 – Louis Armstrong
$10 – Marilyn
$20 – Johnny Cash

Hey, I like that! Cultural and religious figures, instead of politicians and bankers!

Replace Andrew Jackson with none other than Samuel L. Jackson.

“Twenty bucks muthafucka!”

Eh, he was something of a hot head, and he could be a bit imperialist at times. And no well-informed environmentalist would take issue with Teddy, considering he was one of the first conservationists and probably could be called an environmentalist himself.

DWMarch, I second the notion! In his Jedi gear!
