Is Obama supposed to ignore China’s dumping of tires?
Free trade is great. Dumping is not free trade, and needs to be stopped.

Economist Brad de Long has a nice poston this issue. Yes, it’s a dumb move by Obama but it probably won’t escalate into something serious. Obama is not a protectionist and his economic team understands the virtues of free trade. This is just a political move to keep a union happy.
