Getting Bumped Up

Here’s how I did it:

  1. Take a flight that involves a connection (SPI-STL-MCO, e.g.), where the flight on the second leg of the journey (STL-MCO) is overbooked.

  2. Get behind a passenger who is being a real jerk; raising hell, using bad language, yelling, etc.

  3. After that guy leaves, be VERY polite, tell the agent that you know they’ll do the best they can, that if you have to take a later flight then so be it, since you’'re not going to walk to Orlando, and wish her well.

  4. Go get something to eat.

  5. Wait for your name to be called and then find yourself presented with First Class tickets!

That sounds promising!

Hmmm, honestly, I didn’t realize frequent flier miles were so important, but it makes complete sense that they are part of the consideration.

For the dozen or so years I’ve been flying, I’ve never once used a FF program. I would guess that I’ve missed out on a lot of perks!
