So I am getting married in Vietnam end of the month, the documents they VN government requested I have and they have been legalised by my government, but I am running out of time for them to be legalised by the VN embassy here, is there any way in which I can get married in Vietnam without having to do this?
You can certainly have a ceremony without being legally married on paper. That’s in fact what I did, because my wife had obtained a fiancee visa, and being married would have nullified that. We did the big ceremony there, and then officially got married by a justice of the peace in the U.S. about a week after she arrived. To get legally married in Vietnam, I’m sure you’d need a license, but it seems your soon-to-be spouse should be able to arrange that. Do you have to go through the embassy? I have a friend that just got married there without a ceremony, so I can ask her about the procedure.
Also, congratulations! Chúc anh trăm năm hạnh phúc!
So wonderful news, the legalisation department rejected two of my three documents that I needed, all a few days before I go to Vietnam, naturally, my fiancee is furious, what can I do to mitigate this situation?
Tell her you’ll both look back in a few years and laugh about it? Sorry about the red tape, but congratulations on the what I hope, is the soon to be wedding!
