Getting sick from cigarettes

This might appeal more to the social smoker. Why is it when I have not had cigarette in lets say a couple weeks, I getted really buzzed and then after coming down from the buzz I break out in a cold, cold sweat and then I feel nauseated(did I spell that right?). First does anyone know what causes the buzz? Is it the nicotene, or other chemicals? Second, has by body lost the tolorence for it? Info would be appreciated. Thanx.

When I used to smoke, I had the same rush when I went without for several hours. Many people do not report this rush. How common is it?

When I was experimenting with cigarettes, the first one would go down fine (as long as it wasn’t menthol. ::shudder::slight_smile: But if I happened to have a second one within a few hours, I would become extremely nauseated with a headache that would last 15-20 minutes. Not fun. I never understood what did this but it did stop me from using them eventually.

I love the rush. I call it a buzz, and it’s the reason I originally smoked. The worst part of cigarettes is that, as soon as you are hardcore addicted, you no longer get the buzz. Shitters.

Anyway, yeah, the buzz is caused by nicotine. Not just nicotine, but the quick introduction of lots of nicotine into the bloodstream. One of the biggest reported problems with nicotine replacement therapy (gum, patch, inhaler) is that there is no “buzz”, because the nicotine is slowly metered into the system.

As for the sick feeling, it’s due to the gut, which is lined with nicotine receptors like you wouldn’t believe. Hence the cigarette and coffee first of the day shits, and nausea from smoking too much (or for the first time).

Nicotine is one of the most addictive drugs in the world. It is considered to be as addictive as heroin. When its effect wears off, there is a small amount of withdrawl that the body experiences. This is what causes the cravings for another smoke, and the cold sweats and other sick feelings that are experienced. There are also about 100 poisons in a cigarette, which may also be responsible for these feelings.

Cigarettes, including smoke and paper, contain some 60 noxious chemicals. Each of these may contribute to the feelings you describe. However, nicotine, as mentioned is liely responsible for the cold sweat. You probably learned back in biology class how the body has a sympathetic (fight or flight) and parasympathetic (housekeeping and secretions) nervous systems that act on each organ. The two main types of parasympathetic receptors are called muscarinic (with acetylcholine) and nicotnic (called because they were first shopwn to be activated by quick infusions of nicotine). Breaking out into a cold sweat is a known nicotinic parasympathetic response.

Cigarettes contain about 100 chemicals that can reverse hair loss, give you a longer, thicker erection, make you more attractive to the opposite sex, build muscle mass, help you win the lottery, and give you a longer, thicker erection.

I doubt the poisions cause the buzz described in the OP. I’ve had nicotene poisioning several times, which has similar, more intense symptoms, with the added bonus of vomiting. Did wonders as a “temporary flu” to get me outta school for a few days… I’d smoke a pack of Camel non-filters in an hour and a half, get deathly ill for an hour, go home and nap it off for another couple of hours, then rise at noon to resume my delinquency.

I normally only get the buzz in the mornings, when I have a cig on an empty stomach.

That’s right, not one, but TWO longer, thicker wangs.

Maybe I should proofread before I try my hand at being a smartass.

I went out drinkin with a younger guy a few months ago. I didn’t know he was younger so it wasn’t like i was trying to corrupt him or anything.

We hit a bar and (as i said i couldn’t tell he was younger) he had a couple drinks. Eventually i offered him a smoke (i was out of pipe tobacco). Well he said yes, and finished it and was fine. A little later i noticed he was done so i offered another, he said sure, it was gone. We were there for a while.

We got up, settled up the tab and started out. I’m still very thankful he waited till we got out side (he was even polite enough to make it most of the way to a bush, it’s the thought that counts).

He hadn’t had all that much to drink (maybe 2 drafts) so we figured it was the smokes that did him in.
