I’m a little unclear here… what is Kris trying to accomplish? Does he think there’s something wrong with it? And, just to clarify, you do mean the Suburban, right?
I guess nevermind. I thought there was something wrong with it, but it might be that I couldn’t understand what Lou said.
Heh… yeah, he’s basically saying that it could use better shock absorbers, and suggesting a more powerful engine. And paint.
He’s suggesting two shocks per wheel.
Next time I’ll spoiler a Lou to English translation or cut back on the phonetic text.
“Ah’ll jus’ call up in da moanin’ an’ let dem know ah’m comin’ for mah bahke.”
Do the spoilers, but don’t cut back on the phonetics. I like trying to parse it.
“Uh, how are we going to find anyone who needs ‘ghost busting’?” Kris says.
“Well,” admits J.T. Roth. “While we were down at the Hall of Records the other day, I went ahead and put out a small advertisement in the local newspaper. It ain’t much, but maybe someone will see it.”
J.T. and Louis spend the next few days working on the Suburban, as well as fixing up that area of the warehouse for vehicles, including Lou’s motorcycle. Kristopher and the Professor spend some time discussing various aspects of the Ghostbusting equipment, and both learn quite a lot from each other about how things work. Already, both of them have begun thinking up ideas how each item might be improved, or how a new piece of equipment might be developed. Gerald helps some with both groups, as well as participating in group discussions, but as most of this stuff is highly technical (if kinda cool, in its own way), he find himself spending most of his work-time effort with the renovators. They come back to work, now that the haunting is taken care of, and finish fixing up the old abandoned medical clinic.
After a few short days of extremely busy activity, the place looks good as new! The front windows are un-boarded, the graffitti is cleaned up and a new coat of paint is applied, and the new sign goes up: Big lit-up Ghostbusters logo with the street address clearly marked underneath. Inside, the trash is cleaned up, the old and broken furniture thrown out or replaced, the walls painted and the carpets cleaned. There’s an uncomfortable day or two while the bathrooms are rebuilt, but the shopkeeper in the bodega on the corner seemed willing to let you use theirs, as long as you bought something from him.
Each character can choose an office, and how they want it furnished, if they wish.
Finally, the guy from the telephone company comes out and replaces all the wiring in the building, allowing you to connect your new telephones and officially open for business once again!
The date: June 23, 1986.
Monday Morning
9:00 am
Ooops… June 15, 1986 was a Sunday!
You show up right on time, your new jumpsuit clean and fitted, with your name on it and your boots polished. Gathering in the break room, enjoying the doughnuts somebody brought in for breakfast and having a nice cup of coffee from the new coffee machine (assuming you drink coffee), you share small talk with the other members of your team and wait for something interesting to happen.
Ok folks, are we ready? If you have any last minute preparations to make, now’s the time. Visit the OOC thread if you haven’t, it mentions a little about the next adventure.
I will start the next chapter of the game in a new thread, tomorrow at midnight, if all goes well.
PS: Yes, I too am enjoying the accent, don’t stop doing that! You are all playing your characters very well, keep it up!
Gerald is going to spend some of the time carting his small paranormal/parapsychology library from his apartment to his new office. He’s got a pretty decent collection containing just about all of the contemporary research involving the paranormal (there’s not much of it), as well as a few older tomes. Nothing particularly valuable, but some of it is pretty esoteric and certainly useful in these pre-internet days.
Early in the renovation process, Gerald finds J.T.
“Hey, is there money on the payroll for a receptionist? A cute one? A cute, single one? I’ve got some time to do a few, you know, interviews.”
I literally laughed at this; I can just see Gerald asking that! ![]()
Yes. Yes there is.
Gerald spends his evenings out at some local nightclubs, chatting up cute girls and spreading the word about the Ghostbusters and the business opportunity therein. Being broke has never been much of a problem for him at the bar scene - he never seems to pay for very many of his drinks. Any of the rest of the team is welcome to come along on his nightly outings.
Brian skips the bar scene. He regularly calls his lovely wife in Toronto, and works on the Ghostbusting equipment instead. He also shops around for cheap video editing equipment.
He sets up ‘shop’ in the left hand lab and takes the adjacent office.
Kris definitely goes along, also chatting up the local girls and having a ton of success. He doesn’t even bother to advertise or mention ghosts. He just enjoys the night, other than avoiding the one girl he met whose name was Marie.
Lou gets to work on the Suburban.
Let’s let this thread sink down into history. Thanks for all the fun we’ve had so far, plenty more to come!
