I was chatting late into the night with my friend when we suddenly drifted to the topic on ghosts. I noe no 1 scientific explanation can prove their existence( Or non-existence for that matter) but I like to hear various theories from different sources.
The theory I hear goes like this. When a severely depressed person dies, his brain will send out waves into the area around him. (For example, a suicidal man in a dark forest and lost) If this wave(which depends on his level of depression) is strong enough, then anybody passing thru the same area whose wavelength of the freq coincide with that of the former will get to see a faint image. Which is what they term as ghosts.
What I feel is, if ghosts are energy sources, then what I propose is that when a person dies, according to Einstein’s energy mass eqn, E= mc^2, the mass will decompose to form a really large energy source. This energy source is what I term as the “spirit” which takes the form of the human.
This is what I can think of now, and I really appreciate any comments, self made theories, or theories made by any scientist uptill now.
This implies that these “waves” are a form of energy, yes? What form of energy would that be? Electromagnetic? Should be easy enough to detect with the right equipment. That these waves have never been demonstrated should give you a big clue as to the validity of this theory.
This shows that you have no understanding of Einstein’s Special Theory of Relativity. In order to release the energy stored in atomic mass, Atoms must undergo either fusion or fission. This does not happen to human bodies as they decompose. Decomposition is a chemical process, not a nuclear process.
The mass of a dead guy decomposes to energy? How then, are some purported ghosts able to maintain their “staying power?” Should that energy not dissipate at a predictable and uniform rate? Or do the ghosts who’ve been around longer come from fat guys? What about other animate objects? Do dead earthworms decompose to energy? Or do they have so little mass that energy is undetectable? How 'bout something really big, say, an rhinoceros. What about plant matter?
Scientist pretty much concur that when you die, entropy will prevail and rather than become a nuclear reactor bombarding passersby with brainwaves, you will decompose into a chemically simpler substance and add to the food chain near it’s base.
While it’s possible there is some intangible part of us that persists, there is no concrete evidence for it.
