Writers use words.
Illustrations can enhance a story…
but if the story is not sound, illustrations will not help.
And smileys are not illustrations, anyway.
And by the way, using too many smileys is extremely annoying.

I use them because they’re cute! I guess to show I’m happy. In a story, you’re right, I’d have to write it out. “But I don’t have time for that when I post,” she said smiling.
I guess it is a little annoying, so I won’t put any in this post.
