Girls - tatoos, attractive or not?

So ladies, do you find tatoos attractive? If so, what’s attractive and what’s not? Big ones, small ones, arty ones etc.

Just curious, I as thinking of getting a tatoo myself purely for the purposes of self-expression and that got me thinking

I vote NO.

I’m not a girl, though. Does it count if I’m a woman?

Do you mean tats on girls?

No it looks trashy.

EVERYDAY

I’m female…(girl? woman?) Depends on the tatto and how many. I don’t like a whole bunch or no one’s name, no really sleezy naked chicks, or anything like that but yeah I kinf of think a tatto can be sexy if it is 1) nice artwork - get a good artist 2) appropriately placed - no facial, neck, I don’t like hands, arms are okay but I really like chest or back 3) it should accetuate your body. Just because it looked great on your friend doesn’t mena it goes with you. Tattos are individeual so shop around or better yet, find an artist who will do one just for you. That is my take. I keep trying to talk my bf into getting one - he isn’t biting.

EVERYDAY (no exaggeration) I see some sort of rose or flower tattoo on the small of a girls back, and she’s showing it off by wearing low-cut jeans and a short shirt. Or a flowery design on an ankle. ICK!TRASHY BIKER CHICK CHIC!

The next girl who asks me: “hey wanna see my tat?” I’ll say :“Lemme guess its a thorny rose on the small of your back or on your ankle”

I’m willing to bet two bits (whatever that is) I’m right.

I’ll prolly get flamed for this, JMO tho.

Upon re-reading the OP I surmise that YOUR A GUY.

So solly.

Oh and sorry 'bout the double post. Not the hamsters fault this time.

green_dragon, I don’t think I’ve ever been attracted to a guy because of his tattoo, although there have been guys that I’ve been attracted to anyway, who had tattoos that I thought were cool. Generally, I like black designs tattoo’d around the upper arm or on the chest or shoulders.

Then there are guys that have tattoos that turn me off, so that I would have to overcome my dislike of the tattoo to feel attraction for the guy. I can pretty much second what mi_piace said on this subject – definitely ick to lots of tattoos, tattoos on the face, tattoos of naked women, knives, eyeballs, knives and eyeballs, etc.

I like tattoos, and in fact have two myself. Tony Montana, not all tattoos are trashy, it all depends on the girl who posesses it. Would you say that a lily I got done when my godmother died is tratshy? Maybe you would, but I got it because she wanted it herself and died before she got a chance.

Beleive me, I know the kind of girls you are talking about, though, so I do see your point.

green_dragon: do some research before you get it done! ask to see some work the tattoo artist has done before, and listen to all the aftercare instructions. Not taking care of a tattoo while it’s healing can mess it up, so you may need to have it touched up later. I like most tattoos, barring the one’s of people’s names. Especially people who get their OWN first name tattood on themselves (yes, I have met people who have done this). Are they afraid they’re going to forget?

Well not a girl, but I’d like to think I could answer the question…

Tattoos can look hot. They can also look really dumb, or just plain ugly. It depends on the guy and the tattoos. Could I say beforehand? Probably not. It just is one of those things some guys can pull off and others should never try.

I think tattoos are revolting, whether on men or women. Iccccck!!

hmmm…it seems the even with the words “I’m a guy! I’m a guy!” in my sig line people still assume I’m a girl.

I’m gonna get a complex about this, I just know it…

keeps mouth shut and sits silently in corner reading the thread with interest

Depends on the person and the tattoo. I love guys with tattoos but most of the guys with tattoos that I love are skinny rockstars. But if it’s a carefully chosen or drawn design with meaning and done by a good artist then it’s bound to turn out alright. Big, small, doesn’t really matter as long as it’s a nice design. I’m not real big on tattoos with lots of colour though. But that’s just my preference.

Give it lots of thought and don’t just get it done at the cheapest place you find. When it comes to tattoos you get what you pay for. Cheap work isn’t good and good work isn’t cheap. Always remember that.

I like them if they’re in reasonable locations (can be covered up by a business suit) and aren’t crazy (violent, nekkid people, names, &c.)

Oddly enough, I was thinking about getting a rose tattoo. But it’s mainly because my middle name is Rose – it’s not my fault if everyone wants to be me ;).

I hate them. On anybody.

I like a well-drawn tattoo in a place not everyone gets to see…
I knew a jazz artist, knew him for years and we were sitting after one of his sets and he took off his shirt to sit in his t-shirt and I saw the edge of a tat way up on his deltoid and he pulled his sleeve up …I never knew it was there and I thought it was just great.

Good lord people, we just went over this.

I still don’t know which gender we’re supposed to find them attractive on. Ourselves? On guys?

green_dragon, oddly enough, my boyfriend has a tattoo of a green dragon on his arm. It repulses me.

I guess it depends on where it’s at:
