Give me some really catchy and/or hooky up-tempo songs.

You’ve pretty much described my favourite kind of music. Here are some Aussie suggestions you probably won’t have heard, all of them fun, head-bouncing indie-rock style:

Catch My Disease by Ben Lee

The Familiar by Faker

You Look So Good by Clare Bowditch and the Feeding Set

Vision Bell by Dappled Cities

This Heart Attack by Faker

That’s When I Reach For My Revolver, Moby version (since it’s the only one I know)

anything by the Fratellis

Bunch more in this previous thread.

I Don’t Feel Like Dancing by the Scissor Sisters.

The song’s great, but the YouTube video is a little…odd.

Spoon - Don’t you evah

Neat little video too. I like the little robot.

Im old friends with the dummer of this band! yay friends!

No list of “head-boppers” is complete without It’s the End of the World As We Know It by R.E.M.

Mint Royale – Blue Song (song kicks in at 0:30)

I like hooky songs, but the uptempo-est one that’s still really catchy is “Float On” by Modest Mouse. It does have the best hook in music in the last 10 years, so that counts for something.

Just in case you didn’t hear it enough in the 90’s I’ll nominate Semi-Charmed Life by Third Eye Blind.

And One Week by The Barenaked Ladies for a little Canadian flavor.

“I Only Wanna Be With You” Hootie and the Blowfish
'Mary Mac" Carbonleaf

“867-5309/Jenny”–Tommy Tutone
“A Million Miles Away”–The Plimsouls

Here it Goes Again or Do What You Want by OK Go
27 Jennifers by Mike Doughty (preferably the early version)

500 Miles (Proclaimers) is pretty catchy and hooky.

Man, I am waaaay too old for this thread…

OK, how about “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy” or “Chattanooga Choo-Choo”?

*The Glow-Worm * by the Mills Brothers.
“When you gotta glow, you gotta glow.”

Day Tripper, Paperback Writer, The Beatles
Anyway, I knew I could count on you guys – I’ve got a 30 GB iPod with 23.4 free GBs, so every little bit helps. Tons of good stuff so far. I sure hope I’m not the only one getting any benefit from this thread.

Yeah, thanks to TheMerchandise for suggesting MIKA. I wasn’t wild about Grace Kelly, but I love Lollipop!
