"Give Me The simple Life"--Who sang it?

Who recorded the first & most popular version of the song “Give Me The Simple Life”?

I’ve heard the Disney version, but I can’t find a good recording.

Bing Crosby had the original hit version in 1946.

Great.
Is this available on CD?

I develop doubts.

Scouring Amazon, I cannot find a Crosby recording of this song.

No? (Just dust off your Victrola…)

Ha-ha.
Ha-ha-ha.
Ha-ha-ha-ha-haaaaaaaa.
But, is there a version on CD?

It looks like you want this two-CD set: The Best of Bing Crosby, from 1996.

I found one eBay listing for it, here.

You can also buy an mp3 from Amazon here.

i have the 5-disc “100 Hits,” and this isn’t on it.

You can use this search on AllMusic.com to see, like, thousands of recordings of the song (probably not 800,000+ recordings…the results probably are for any word in the title, not all words)

Ebay is having tech issues today.
I can’t log on.

The Bing Crosby version was recorded on August 29, 1945. Other versions at the time were done by Benny Goodman’s orchestra (September 19, 1945; Columbia 36908) and Sammy Kaye’s orchestra (recording date not available; RCA Victor 20-1738). It appears that the Goodman version peaked at #13 on the Billboard charts and the Crosby peaked at #16.

Only two CD releases of the Crosby are shown in the following discography:

One is the “Best of Bing Crosby” already mentioned; the other is Volume 40 of Jonzo’s “Chronological Bing Crosby.” Both are UK releases, so they might be available on Amazon.co.uk.

Ordered from Amazon UK!

I’ve done business with Zoverstocks, so I feel pretty confident about quality.
