I lost interest in this show a while back but I did catch some of last night’s show. I gotta say that freed from the cheerleader outfit, Santana is just completely, insanely hot. I thought she was before but so much better now.
I liked it. I think part of Sam’s charm is that he is so clueless from an all boys school. He speaks Navi and does JEJ impersonations. Come on! It was totally in character for him to think Bieber would win everyone over. And it’s totally in Glee’s character for it to actually work!!
Not sure what I think of Santana/Sam, but we will see. Lauren can get off my screen now. I find her character totally annoying, and I can’t get past her screaming in the sex riot episode. Brittany was awesome with her leg warmers on her arms!!
I think that Rachel’s idea of original songs could be a good one, but who actually thinks she can write a song? Do you really think any of the characters could write a song? Maybe Artie, and I could see Tina having that talent hidden up her sleeve, but no one else.
I liked the Bieber songs. Baby is already a pop classic and Somebody to Love is on its way, so it makes sense that Glee would give him a shout out at some point.
I’m impressed that they spent the time to actually recreate the Somebody to Love video. Say what you will of the Biebs, but I think that’s an eye-catching music video, just beautifully choreographed and shot to highlight the Bieb’s very special appeal to the tween set.
Out of curiosity, am I the only person here who couldn’t name a single solitary song Bieber’s sung (unless you count the “never should have happened” We Are the World redux)? With Brittney I knew “Oops I Did it Again” and that was it.
(This isn’t a judgment on his fans, mind, just an irritation at the commercially driven special episodes.)
From what I’ve seen of Wee Bieber, I think he has a future as an actor once the David Cassidy period is over. He’s actually got good timing and delivery in the Ozzie commercial, The Daily Show skit and the SNL sketches he was on.
I dunno, it did fit her personality, and it’s not a song that requires any actual singing ability. For anyone unfamiliar with the original version by one-hit-wonder The Waitresses, Lauren’s performance was actually a pretty faithful cover. I don’t feel like I need to hear another Lauren solo anytime soon, but if they wanted to do one then this song worked well enough.
Very bad indeed. Even if someone in the club were a gifted young songwriter – and I don’t think there’s ever been any indication that this was the case – it seems like a big mistake to go with a song that none of the judges would have heard before and to risk muddying the issue of what is actually being judged. It’s supposed to be a singing competition, not a songwriting competition, but if the judges wind up hating the song then that will probably drag down their score.
I had, unfortunately, heard “Baby” before. But when they were getting ready to do the second Bieber number I said “Wait, Justin Bieber has MORE THAN ONE SONG?”
I don’t think I went to a single b-school tailgate where they didn’t play Baby. I’d tell you it’s an attempt at irony but I think we actually all really like it.
All the new David Guetta, Kesha, Rihanna, Bieber, Mike Snow stuff gets played in clubs all the time. I’ve danced to it quite drunkenly. Also, I’m pretty certain I’ve bowled to it drunkenly.
What I’m saying is, this shit gets played wherever I seem to be getting drunk. But I currently live in a college town, so I’m not sure if I’m a representative sample.
I actually thought Sue’s behaviour was like her. I think she let her guard down in the hospital, then regretted it. She doesn’t like to be observed being vulnerable. About the only time she is open is when she’s with her sister.
I’m not a Bieber fan, and I don’t think I’ve ever heard one of his songs before this. They were sort of meh. Take Me or Leave Me was great. Lauren Zises can leave or change her personality any time. I hate to see the blond kid hook up with Santana, because he’s homely but sweet and she’s a Great White shark.

Lauren is getting really old, really fast. Entertaining detour, but I say we let Puck get back to his normal badassery.
Funny split-second sight gag- when Rachel is in her locker, her to-do list has “Avatar on Ice Audition”.
I’m surprised that nobody mentioned in the underwear scene Mr. Shu was in boxers and a vest and Sue in dominatrix outfit.
I didn’t notice that until I saw screencaps online. During the shoe itself I was to focused on Sam & Mike to notice anything else. :o
I would gladly die- looking something like this:D- if I could be the filling in that sandwich for just a few hours.
I agree that Lauren is played. They need to rethink her character.
I don’t expect Lauren to be playing a prominent role for much longer. Once Kurt returns to WMHS (something I figure is bound to happen by the end of the season) then Lauren will probably retire from the glee club. She only joined because they needed at least one more student to meet the minimum for competition. Since she’s not that enthusiastic about the club and isn’t much of a singer or dancer either, she’ll probably return to being an occasional background character.
In the meantime though, I would like to see Lauren display some positive – or at least entertaining – trait aside from self-confidence. I mean, I’m all for tough, sarcastic girls, and for a show that’s supposedly about high school outcasts she’s the only girl in the cast who seems like she’d truly be unpopular in real life. But since she doesn’t have a great voice then if we’re going to be spending much more time with her then she needs to be funnier and/or nicer.

As some poster said (I’m probably paraphrasing): “You can be unattractive OR you can be a bitch, but you can’t be both if you want to be popular.”
It was a nice episode, but I think the only really interesting thing for the season arc is that Sue is coaching against them, instead of one of the judges this time.
Anyone who doesn’t like Bieber should watch last night’s CSI.Justin goes down in a hail of gunfire when his character loses a standoff with police.
That was me!
Do we know what grade everyone is in? I’m thinking everyone’s a junior (having been sophmores last season), but last year I thought Finn & Puck were juniors (making them seniors now). Was Matt a senior (which would explain wh he disappeared)? They do all seem to be in the same grade, and most of them drive (Kurt confirmed having a car last year).
AFAIK nobody’s mentioned anyone being an upperclassmen or underclassmen. Are there any plans for Glee to last more than 3 seasons (3rd season was ordered last yr along with 2nd)? Cause it’s one thing to rotate characters in and out; it’s another thing to spend 3 yrs establishing an entire cast (minus the adults) then replace them all at once.
I think they said at the beginning of the season that Matt had moved away, although IMHO they should have just said he graduated.
Sort of a shame they never really did anything with that character.
Anyway, I believe most or all of the current characters are juniors now. I don’t remember Finn and Puck being established as being any older than the other kids. I guess Sam could be a year younger.
That reminded me of a quote from The Big C on Showtime. I had to look it up to be sure. Laura Linney’s character was talking to Gabourey Sidibe.
Gah. I missed the your/you’re mistake in the pasted quote. DAMN YOU IMDB and DAMN ME for not checking it!
