Glee vs. Jonathan Coulton

Well, movies have a lot longer credits than TV shows do.

If you’re going to discourage people from watching the show then “it’s frequently pretty terrible” is a better reason…and I say this as a loyal Glee viewer.

If it’s Fox and their legal department you have a problem with, it seems like it would be more effective to boycott ALL Fox shows.

His blog post. Sir Mix-a-Lot will get his proper royalties, whatever handling fees for the companies that sell it will come out, and then the rest gets split between “It Gets Better” and “VH1 Save the Music.”

I’m extremely impressed by Coulton’s response. Fox essentially took his arrangement, shoved him aside, and told him “we don’t want to work with you.” Coulton, in turn, uses the controversy to support causes that Glee supports, says that there aren’t any hard feelings, and lets Fox know that he’d love to work with them on this. All that despite the fact that it’s pretty clear that he’s really mad about what they did. I’m not sure I’d be able to do such a major turning of the other cheek in that situation.

A fellow indie songwriter - Devo Spice - just released a pretty great (and vulgar) parody called "JoCo Got Jacked"
