He’ll always be Ranger LaBoeuf to me. RIP
I’m talking with my sister about Glen Campbell and Alzheimer’s, and she recommended a movie I never heard of, “Still Alice” (2014). I’m not a YouTube expert but I think they have the whole movie: https://m.youtube.com/results?q=still%20alice%20movie&sm=3
Julianne Moore plays the lead, and my sister said her culminating speech is quite moving.
Anyway, related to his passing.
I love the lyrics of one of his final songs, I’m Not Gonna Miss You. Some here:
*I’m still here, but yet I’m gone…
You’re the last person I will love
You’re the last face I will recall
It’s not gonna hurt me when you cry
And best of all, I’m not gonna miss you*

RIP @ the Rhinestone Cowboy.
He played guitar on the Beach Boys’ Pet Sounds album, then toured with them from December 1964 to March 1965 as a replacement for Brian Wilson. He was offered a spot as a permanent member, but turned them down over a disagreement about royalties.
He had several songs I loved, both at the time, and at the present time. I’m sad to hear he has passed.
Here’s a wonderful live performance of Wichita Lineman with Glen and Keith Urban.
Wonderful banter as these two friends talk. Glen explains he met Keith many years earlier. Keith asked for advice about getting into music. Glen told him to practice and learn his trade. That certainly has worked out well for Keith. LOL
This must of been just before Glen’s illness.
There’s a funny moment when Keith flubs a chord change, smiles and keeps on playing.
Glen does some very nice lead work later in the song.
Another good one bites the dust. Thanks for the great music, Glen!
I never get this. No one mentions how much they hate cliffs when someone drives off one. If anything cancer is one of the most natural diseases to fall to. It’s human cells.
Anyway, I’m no country music fan but he had solid tunes. He made his mark on the history of his chosen profession. Most of us can only dream of that. Nice life and RIP.
It popped up on my CNN feed on my phone and I actually said “Shit!” in the middle of a training workshop. When I showed the alert to the facilitator she said the same thing.
When I was a kid and long hair for boys was starting to be a thing here in flyover country I was struggling to grow out my bushy mop and my mom was always saying “Why don’t you just get it cut like Glenn Cambell’s? His hair is long but it is neat!” This was around 1969 or so.
That’s what I always think of when I hear his name.
Later I realized what a great musician he was and I still love Witchita Lineman. And Galveston.
Rest In Peace, Mr. Campbell.
Can’t say I was ever a big fan when he was popular but now, oddly, I feel compelled to pull his music up on the Spotify machine.
And I feel like I’m going to like it.
Rest in peace, Glen.
mmm
Very sad.
His wife Kim was a college friend of mine. I’ll be thinking of her tonight.
I hate cancer as well but Campbell suffered from Alzheimer’s, a particularly cruel disease. IMO.
How about “I’ll Be Me”, the documentary about his final tour (and slide into dementia)? It’s good but hard to watch, because during the movie, which was filmed over about a year, he goes from being able to disguise his impairment to some degree to basically not knowing who he was.
But he never lost the ability to play his guitar, which made it all the sadder.
A very touching documentary which turned me into a fan of Mr. Campbell.

I think you got the wrong link on the last one - that’s Roy Clark solo (well, with his band). Here are Roy and Glenn together. Which is some damn fine playing.
My favorite cover: Girls from Australia! WICHITA LINEMAN CLOUDS - YouTube
I grew up on his music. Tonight is a sad night in KJ land…
RIP Sir, much respect
That would be Antenna TV. They have the Carson reruns.
