Glenn Close vs. Meryl Streep

Kate Winslet looks more to me like Sophia Myles; Cate Blanchett, I confuse with Tilda Swinton (even though they look very dissimilar).

Glenn Close and Meryl Streep are neither homely nor interchangeable. Glenn Close is my favorite actress, and Meryl Streep is arguably the greatest actress of her generation, and they bring entirely different qualities to their roles.

On the other hand, while Brad Pitt and Matt Damon are both very pretty, they are pretty much interchangeable in my mind. Brad frequently has more facial hair.

Heh. Apparently New York Magazine agrees with me.

I used to have a hard time with Tobey Maguire and Jake Gyllenhaal. I heard that Gyllenhaal was considered as a replacement for Maguire when it looked like Maguire would be unable to shoot Spider-Man 2, and I don’t know that I’d have noticed the difference.

I guess that’s what is great about opinions: everyone’s is different. I find Matt Damon and Brad Pitt vastly different: Pitt is a great actor with incredible range, while I think Damon has all the charisma of a sock puppet!

Two others I find pretty much interchangeable: Tom Sizemore and Michael Madsen. And given Sizemore’s penchant for spending time behind bars, I guess it’s a good thing that Madsen can cover his roles…TRM

Shouldn’t it be “GILF” at this point?

Matt Damon & Leonardo DiCaprio.

No, it’s Matt Damon and Mark Wahlburg

Pairs (or more) of actors that I often confused:
[ol]
[li]Elizabeth McGovern / Elizabeth Perkins - aided by the fact that they both starred with Kevin Bacon.[/li][li]Dustin Hoffman / Al Pacino / Robert DeNiro - at least in the 1970’s[/li][li]Michael Madsen / Tom Sizemore[/li][/ol]

I had trouble keeping Pullman & Paxton straight in my mind for years, until I noticed that Pullman plays the dufus, while Paxton plays the jackass.

Is Denholm Elliot the English Robert Vaughn? Or is Robert Vaughn the American Denholm Elliott?

Kiera Knightley and Natalie Portman.
