Two days ago I had a panic attack during Spanish class, and for the first time ever I didn’t flee the room in terror. I just sat there and kept going. And even though I wasn’t expected to participate (I missed last week’s class because of Jury Duty) I totally owned, even with my hands shaking and everything.
My youngest nephew (age 2 as of 2 weeks ago) refered to me by name. I don’t know why this made me feel so good, but he recognizes me as an individual person, and knows me by sight even though he only rarely sees me. Maybe more -his- victory than mine, but I’ll take it.
It’s been 6 years since I took it, but you beat me by a point! I took the test pretty hammered from the night before. Took the GRE pretty hammered, too. Still scored a 730 on the math, and passed the FE (hungover) without a calculator. Gloating indeed. One of these days I’ll party AFTER the tests, instead of before!
I havn’t altered my gym schedule (started going again about a month ago) and while there I stick to my workout schedule (I used to be a fan of “ok… well, I’ll go tomorrow and do twice as many pushups”). Actually I was near the gym today so I went in for an extra hour early this a.m. Yay for sticking to my goals.
Math class - and the demonstration I did at the board - made me feel good about myself. I’m either getting better at math, or more confident and at-ease speaking in front of people, or some combination of both.
I did NOT giggle and give away my location while playing bear hunt.
Bear Hunt is basically Hide and Seek, with the lights out and everyone involved using a flashlight. The bear hides, while everyone else counts to twenty–taxing some people’s counting abilities. (OK, so one’s four, and the other one is two years younger than the four-year old). When it became Aunt Eureka’s turn to hide, I hid under a pile of covers in the spare room. I was expecting to be located quickly, thus showing that I overestimated the closeness with which the two little searchers were looking. (Given the length of time it had taken to find a flashlight and a Daddy, already in the game, I should NOT have expected to be found quickly).
So anyway, I’m lying there under the covers, and I hear my brother say “Did you look UNDER everything?” Followed by a comment about looking under the Pack N Play not really being neccessary. A light came really close to my eyes, and I braced myself to be stepped on, but I managed to giggle silently. Three sets of feet tromped out again. Eventually, they returned, and the four-year old (prodded firmly by Daddy) managed to figure out that Aunt Eureka was under the pile of covers.
Oh, another reason to gloat over a minor victory–the happy dances performed by my nieces, when I arrived at their house. Now, admittedly, they were so busy doing happy dances that I didn’t get any welcoming hugs or kisses, but one must be pretty special to get the amount of happy dance my arrival did.
(I also got invitations to return by 4 family members, and offers to let me take the 2 little ones home with me for a couple of days from the two parents.)
I did twelve pushups at my fitness evaluation tonight. The last time, nine months ago, it was 4. I also did 3 sets of 100 crunchies on a pivoting bench.
Isn’t it great? My nephew is also two years old, cute as a little puppy dog. I’ve been told by his mama that he asks for Auntie and is disappointed on weekends when I have to work and can’t see him. My other nephew is seven and last time he came to visit he cried when he had to go home. Auntie’s house rocks! Makes me feel warm and fuzzy all over.
I’ve almost learned a second complete guitar suite, following this one that I wrote about over in CS.
And if that weren’t enough, I actually found a CD of both these suites and four others that were published at the same time. After listening to a professional play music that I’ve worked through without having heard it before, I’m pleased to see that my reading from scratch has not been that bad at all. Though, as I said in the other thread it’s not terribly difficult music to play.
