Global Warming

Yet another report came out this week:

In this one, the NAS looked into many of the same issues as those investigated in recent papers by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. What do you guys think?

I think it’s certain that we’re on a warming trend, it’s damn likely that humans have something to do with it, and even if we aren’t the cause, does it really matter? We still ought to be doing whatever we can to slow it down, or at least minimize its impact. I think Bush will sit on his hands until D.C. is under water.

There are many uncertainties about the extent and long-range implications, but I am glad to see that there is finally a strong scientific consensus that human activity is affecting the climate. I hope this will wield some political power to get around the waffling and start thinking more about what we can actually do about it.
