Gluing your self down for protest

I’m referring to the focus of the thread which are people who protesting illegally.

Having a conversation with someone you disagree with does not mean you don’t care about what the other person thinks.

Well if I were Emperor I would be investing in battery technology, hardening our electrical grid, and building nuclear power plants to help get through the transition to decentralized power production. I’d also invest heavily in tidal energy capture because the Moon is a perpetual energy machine that works consistently and more predictably than solar or wind generation.

Well, I think those people couldn’t be characterized as passive-aggressive either. They are quite clear about what they hope to do – draw attention to the crisis. Passive-aggression implies pretending not to want what you want in a manipulative way.

OK, aggressive behavior then.

There ya go. 100% better than passive, in my book. Passive and we all die.

If you’re interested in an article outlining why the glueing and souping may not entirely counterproductive, here you go Why glue your head to a painting? - Waging Nonviolence | Waging Nonviolence

The people who wrote the article do a lot of training in non-violent protest. Not taking a side but if you want some info, you may find the article interesting.

I wondered about someone gluing themselves down in a country where civil rights are shaky. The cops could just grab the protesters and yank them upright, to hell with their hands.

I remember back maybe 25 years ago when kids were chaining themselves to fences with locks. One police force (in the US) was forcing the kids eyes open and spraying tear gas directly into them.
