Cite please? It’s become clear that when asked to express an actual preference, they preferred Valerie Jarrett at first. Race was a consideration in this whole matter but some of the other prominent candidates, like Tammy Duckworth, definitely weren’t black.
That’s a side issue anyway. Race was going to be a factor in choosing Obama’s replacement, but it’s still obvious Blagojevich picked a black candidate in an effort to make it harder for the Senate to block his choice.
Amen to that. Dragging race into it only serves to muddy already murky waters and proves Rush the asshole we knew he was.
Burris is a nice guy and all, but not exactly a dynamo. Kind of an empty suit, really.

If these stories are correct (and the evidence appears overwhelming that they are) then calling Burris sub-human slime is charitable. Surely an attempt in defiance of the evidence and over the violent objection of his subordinate to judicially murder an innocent man (from which murder he expected to reap political gain) must permanently disqualify this man for anything resembling a position of responsibility.
His statement “A jury has found this individual guilty and given him the death penalty. It is my role to see to it that it is upheld. That’s my job.” is a flat-out lie, or shows ignorance of a prosecutor’s role so massive as to defy description.
He may well be among the dozen least-qualified men in the State of Illinois.
