Isn’t reminding people about Troll 2 an offense that gets one banned from the Straight Dope?
Did he openly accept them?
He stopped posting.
In general, the flaw that I see with most debates - e.g. in the comment sections of news articles and Instagram posts - is that most of everyone on either side doesn’t actually know anything and doesn’t know how to respond except to hammer the official talking points of their side. It’s just people of ignorance arguing against other people of ignorance. Nothing changes.
Step back, don’t answer what you don’t know, and only engage if you can give a simple, factual, and reasonable answer that even a warrior ethos cave man might step back and appreciate.
Otherwise, butt out and let others handle it.
Thank you for the lovely bit of “bothsiderism”.
Where’s Willie Wonka When you need him?
Because we don’t want the SDMB to end up as another “Nazi Bar” when people like him drive everyone else away. Which as a major reason people like him show up in the first place, to drive away everyone else until nobody else is there but the far right or the board shuts down for lack of users.
EDIT: And, they just got slammed by the mods and suspended for a day in the What’s wrong about a lethal military? thread for ignoring moderation.
More often than not, such posters wind up getting banned, not because of their views, and not just because of their trollish behavior, but because it’s discovered that they’re actually trocks, who clearly came back to stir up shit.
My money’s on this.
What, specifically, has he said that isn’t believed by millions of Americans? Please quote him. I’m genuinely curious.
What’s your point? Millions of Americans are ignorant fascist bigots; that’s how Trump got into power. Numbers make them no less bigoted fascists.
It’s hard to separate trolls from right-wingers because they’ve become more or less the same thing. Their only interest is in winding people up with debate theatrics. They’re not pursuing discussion or knowledge, they want to make liberals cry.
The only difference is that message-board trolls are trying to fly under the wire of moderation rules to see how long they can keep the routine going.
I don’t think “Kobolding” is a thing.
I think it’s difficult for someone living in right-wing fantasy world to do well here, since they can’t cite any reputable resources when asked, and they seem to hold a lot of internally inconsistent views. So, if they come to P&E and want to talk about anything political, they will be asked to back up their position (over and over and over) and won’t be able to do that, which may get frustrating for everyone.
That, and they’re looking for liberal tears, which will get them banned.
Poe’s Law is also at work.
Yeah. Rightwingers tend to not last long on forums that refuse to bend over backwards to accommodate them. They ignore rules, blatantly lie and troll and go out of their way to try to hurt other users.
How? Do you think they’re posting all the right-wing drivel ironically, not actually meaning it, thinking we all understand they’re secretly mocking it?
I don’t see it.
It’s possible for there to be a bored person who isn’t a right-winger, but they know this board will react to RW messaging, so they create an account to troll the board with opinions and misinformation they don’t actually believe in just to get a rise out of the board.
They could be mocking both the RW folks who genuinely believe these things and the board members who rise to the trolling.
I suppose that’s where this intersects with Poe’s Law.
“Cite a reputable source? I’m sorry, I’m a Republican and we don’t have those.”
It’s more like, “These sites are reputable unlike the lame-stream media and the biased liberal eggheads and all the sheep who follow them.”
Then a link to RT International or a Reddit thread.
(I’m just remembering the wonderful experiences we had with Kedikat, who pretended to “view all sides” then only quote from one side, the lying side.)
