God, I miss the golden age of LucasGames....

Look for a game in development called “A Vampyre Story.” It’s by Autumn Moon.

Secret Weapons of the Luftwaffe (SWOTL) is still mentioned on flight-sim boards as one of the early greats.

Names, please. I’m not very interested in first person/Myst stuff. I’m much more interested in the classic 3d-person adventure. Gabriel Knight, Sam & Max, etc.

Thanks,

Don’t be ashamed. Loom was great. I wish it had been longer…and had a sequel.

Apparently a sequel called “Forge” was in the works for a while before it was scrapped. I imagine that Rusty would been the main character of that.

Go to this website.

Click on main games page and search for Cirque De Zale.

It’s a free, small adventure game with the graphics of Monkey Island 2 and the same humor. It’s great.

Let’s see, off the top of my head: Still Life (very adult-themed), The Moment of Silence (3/5), Syberia, Syberia 2 (4.5/5), Journey to the Center of the Earth (3/5), WANTED: A Wild Western Adventure (2.5/5), Sherlock Holmes: Secret of the Silver Earring (3.5/5).

Those are only the ones I can think of that I’ve played fairly recently and that are point-and-click adventures. I put the score I gave the game, if I also reviewed it. I’ve played lots more that are Myst-styled.

Oops. That score for Syberia 2 should’ve been for Syberia. I also forgot The Longest Journey in that list. I think I reviewed it, but I can’t find a review online, so maybe not, or maybe it was for a magazine.

Sam and Max Hit the Road; Loved and finished it.

Maniac Mansion; Liked but never finished.

Indiana Jones; Liked but never finished.

X-Wing; Loved but never finished.

TIE Fighter; Loved it so much it affected my school work.

Zombies Ate My Neighbors; Loved and wished I bought a copy for my SNES instead of constantly renting it.

Yeah, they updated X-Wing and TIE Fighter with the X-Wing Vs. TIE Fighter engine. Mainly they updated the graphics and changed the music (Which is a shame, I miss the classic X-Wing music) they also came with a demo for XvT called "X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter: Flight School)

I think there was a patch to make XvT and the updated XW/TF games work in XP, but I’m not sure. Either way, I have a working copy of X-Wing on my machine. shrug

Shame on y’all… barely a mention of Day of the Tentacle! Best game involving time travel, ever. I loved the Monkey Island games too, but the transformation into 3D never worked for me.

I’d kill for a decent new X-Wing/TIE Fighter/Wing Commander type game.

I’d kill for a re-release of the Kilrathi Saga. I have every Wing Commander game ever released (except for Prophecy) and I have a hard time getting anything that doesn’t use JEMM to run properly. (I’ve never really cared for the OS remake of Privateer.) Or a re-release of X-Wing and TIE Fighter patched for a current system.

I came here just to mention ScummVM. I just found it about a week ago, and have been happily replaying Sam and Max. Full Throttle is next!

“I fixed your door. pause It was sticky.”

Gracias, Deadly.

Microsoft released Freelancer about two-three years ago, which was obviously … uhm, inspired by … Privateer. Pretty good, but I never got around to finishing it. I suppose I’ll drag it out eventually and wrap that up.

I absolutely loved The Dig but again, never finished it. I got stuck at the point where the giant spiderlike alien trapped your compatriot in a web, and as this was before the advent of the web and gamefaqs.com, I was stumped and the game disks disappeared into the piles of computer junk. I haven’t found a rerelease of that anywhere, and eBay isn’t any help, either…

(I did eventually buy Alan Dean Foster’s novelization of it and read how they defeated the spiderlike alien, but too little, too late…)

Another for Day of the Tentacle and ** Grim Fandango**

Particularly Day of the Tentacle That was one of the best non-killing games ever

That’s illegal here in Louisiana.

Sorry, couldn’t help myself.

I’m well into Psychonauts now, it is a great game. Tim Schafer (Day of the Tentacle, Full Throttle, Grim Fandango) has delivered another quirky bit of genius with this one. It’s sort of a hybrid of adventure and 3rd-person action. Some areas play like a shooter, others like a platform action game, one allows you to rampage “Godzilla style” through a town and do battle with another monster. Level design displays a great depth of imagination, the overall theme holds the pieces together very well.

I can only hope people give this title a chance, though I assume it will be lost behind the releases from the major game producers.

Any way to get these without going to ebay?

A few years back the company released a series called (IIRC) “LucasArts Archives,” each package had a collection of either adventure titles or Star Wars games. I’m not sure exactly how old those are or if the discs will work with current hardware/OSs. Online retailers might still offer them.

So how’s that for almost no help at all?
