Still working on assembly - want to get as much put together as possible for batch priming, and I think I’m going to try base-coating with the airbrush.
Working on these :
10 Terminators (Heavy Flamer / Missile Launcher)
10 Terminators (Autocannon / Missile Launcher)
10 Assault Marines
10 Death Company
I have about thirty of the forty assembled. I also discovered I have a spare metal Terminator body that I must’ve picked up in random bit-buying this past summer; I think I am going to convert him into a Sanguinary Priest.
Actual DC. Five came in my battleforce box, and I bought one box of five. I’m trying to decide how I want to paint them - I am thinking I may paint them in a slightly red-tinged black.
Yes. I haven’t glued their packs on yet, but after magnetizing five assault marines for jump packs, I decided it wasn’t worth the hassle to do it again; if I ever want to run them sans jump packs, then I’ll just tell my opponent that we’re treating their jump packs as broken.
All assembled, along with the Sanguinor, Astorath the Grim, and Terminator Captain and Terminator Librarian. Working on priming now. Also finally finished painting the interior of my Rhino, so I was able to glue the front and top plates onto it.
Ended up with a bunch of Tau stuff as payment in lieu of cash from a deadbeat. I’ve been wanting to paint Tau for a while, but I have a feeling I will be sick of them soon enough. And since I don’t play Tau, I’d much rather have hd the money. One upside is that I got $170 of stuff whereas I was only owed $140 in cash.
A Broadside. (I’ve already finished it)
A crisis suit box set.
A Pathfinder box.
A fireblade cadre.
I finished all the drones and man am I tired of those little bastards.
Heh. I am holding off buying any 40K stuff till next year. And holding off of funding Kickstarters. It’s been a very spendy year for me so far…
But I am looking forward to new Ork and IG codexes, and I am intrigued by the Codex : Inquisition that they announced… but having no iPad, it’s useless to me.
Good News, Everyone! Finally got those Tau all finished and may even have a buyer!
The Baneblade (Shadowsword, actually) is coming along as well. Got a four-color digital pattern going on it which was a bitch. First was the light gray primer. Then some masking to overlay the red-brown. It turns out that a vehicle covered in rivets is a bitch to mask and I did the dark gray and black by hand to cover all the masking mistakes. Another pain is that one has to insert the commander from below, from inside the model. So I had to leave the super structure unglued until I got both it and the commander finished. And THEN glue the arms on the commander because otherwise he didn’t fit. I’m working the details up now, like the ten aquilla all over the chassis and gun, the “shrine” on the back of the engine and the little tools and headlights. Once they’re done I can get on with the washing and highlighting. Then a few pics. I’m thinking $300 is a fair price.
The first 9 images of here are the unfinished shadowsword. There’s no insignia yet and I haven’t “personalized” it with any extra gear other than what came with the kit. And of course, there’s lots and lots of touching up to do.
Been painting a lot of Space Wolves for commission. OK work. The guy already had them assembled and primed. And he wants to do the decals and bases as well. So not as much work. I also did an imperial knight for him under the same conditions. That was sort of fun but I would have liked to do the whole process on that one. I want to do some of thenew Astra Millitarum or whatevers just because I like them. But I’d prefer to do it as a commission so that I don’t have to buy anything!
Just read some speculation that GW is switching to copywritable names for everything. Astra Militarum for the IG, Astra Tempestus for Storm Troopers and Astra Auxilia for Ogryns.
I am back to painting, working on finishing up the batch of Assault Marines that I had in progress when I last left off; and I am joining a local store’s summer league - six weeks, one game a week, 1000 points. Hopefully I can learn the 7th Edition rules on the way…
The 1000 point limit should help minimize the cheese. Especially with any “unbound” armies.
Disaster down here. The one and only game store in the area closed! I got a great deal on remaining stock but now have nowhere to show it once it’s painted.
If there’s a decent playerbase, put your heads together and find someone with a big basement to play in?
I have decided that if GW continues to crank out a new edition every two years or less, that I am going to stop buying the rulebooks and just find other ways to play.
