I started this thread, the real question is why are you here?

TO figure out what the hell you are on about - and if it has any meaning whatsoever.

So far, you’re failing to explain what your talking about and if it has any legitimate basis in the “bible” or from “god” .

Whether I agree with it or not is irrelevant - you being able to explain your position, logically (or even passionately) is what will make the difference - even if I disagree with your position, I enjoy trying to understand it, as sometimes there is something to be learned from even the most absurd of notions.

So far, here - from you - notsomuch.

Yeah that rich man was begging for just one drop of water to cool his tongue. You can imagine all the good things like water, that we take for granted, that won’t be there.

It’s funny that you see it this way - just about anyone who can access this message board lives a lifestyle WAY more comfortable than some Bronze-age rich guy. We have electricity and air conditioning and central heating and flush toilets and clean running water and refrigerators and vaccinations and elevators and electronic entertainment and vehicles and modern medical care and modern dental care and… well, the list is extensive. We live in casual luxury unimaginable to even the wealthiest BCE oligarch, who probably had intestinal parasites, rotten teeth, drafty (if opulent) living quarters, and any number of things that we’d consider undesirable. Are we all going to Hell after we die, regardless of our beliefs, because of our immense relative wealth?
I would do away with Hell, myself, because I see no value and feel no pleasure in the infliction of eternal suffering. Your god has not, and if offered the opportunity, you would not. Am I not morally superior to your god and you because of this?

I’ve follow this thread off and on without intervening because I’d hoped you would get the idea that the SDMB is not like other places on the web. Casual insults and put downs are not the norm here.

Nonetheless, I see you haven’t learned such. I’m giving you a warning for this one, and could easily have done so several times over the course of the thread. I encourage you to read the rules for the SDMB in general and the Great Debates forum in particular. You can find them at the top of the list of threads.

As I said, I’m giving you a warning here. Failure to follow moderator guidance can result in suspension of posting privileges either temporarily or permanently. I don’t want that to happen, and I’d like to see you become a longtime participant. But you need to learn to follow the rules. Witnessing - as you seem to be doing - is specifically allowed in Great Debates, but those who do so should expect some pushback. But responding to that with insults and such is outside the lines.

Please don’t do so again.

Hi! I’m reading this thread because I want to understand you and what you’re trying to say. It has, honestly, been difficult to do so.

Treat, I want to be accommodating of your beliefs, but I have to say that numerology is bullshit. As has been shown repeatedly in this thread, you can play with numbers so they tell any story you set our mind to, and if you are willing to fudge, take advantage of rounding errors, and use units that were not in use 2000 years ago because they force-fit your calculations, you are showing your ignorance, your gullibility, and, worst of all, the weakness of your faith. Study your Bible (you need to do that because in this thread you’re being schooled in the New Testament by a Jewish atheist, FFS) AND learn some science and you may find that the overwhelming magnificence of His creation does not need your silly, imaginary formulas to prove it.
