The movie “Going All the Way” was on TV last night and I watched most of it, but ended up being disappointed in it. This is the one based on Dan Wakefield’s great novel of the same name, based in Indianapolis in the mid-fifties as two young guys come home from the Korean War.
Just another case of movies not living up to the the book, I suppose.
I can only think of a couple examples of movies being actually better than the book, “The Godfather” and “The Shawshank Redemption.” Nothing against Puzo’s novel, but the whole part about Lucy’s massive vaginal cavity was a waste, thankfully FFC took that out (do I hear an echo?).
I think almost any novelization of a movie is not as good as the movie. I bought a couple of Star Trek movie novels, but they sucked. They were just modified scripts.
Wrong thinking is punished, right thinking is just as swiftly rewarded. You’ll find it an effective combination.
Sorry, I didn’t see Pluto’s “From Book to Movie – Success and Failure” thread when I posted my question. Maybe mine’s a bit different since I’m asking only for movies that are better than their book (although the book doesn’t neccesarily have to be bad.)
Someone mentioned “Forrest Gump” in the other thread; I agree.
Sorry Da Ace, I didn’t want to disapoint you, but that was the name of the movie.
Did you want a virginity discussion then? Soph in HS, back seat after a Spring dance, parked on a dirt road by her house waaaay out in the country. After dropping her off, I got lost driving home, almost ran out of gas. Happy now?
